Door Open/In Gear Horn Warning

I read somewhere but can't find it on hw to turn off the horn warning when you are in gear and openthe door. Does only one know how to disable this warning. With my previous trucks I open the door when backing up to hitch the trailer, judgig distance to go on the ground beside the truck.

Fasten the seatbelt under you. I beleve I read that awhile back. I haven't hooked up my trailer in a while and can not remember if I've trided doing that.

There's a way to do as I did it on my truck. Let me ask my son and I'll get back to you

Thanks for the replies but I'm not talking about the seat belt warning. What I'm refering to is the horn honking warning that come on when you are in gear, such as reverse, and are backing up. As you are backing up, if the door is openned the horn starts honking. I want to turn the horn off, not the seat belt warning ding.

I don't think once its flashed in it can be reversed. It was part of a recall. Luckily the dealer warned me of that before they did it.

If you keep pressure on the brake pedal the entire time the horn will not honk. You just need to two foot it.

Mine did the same thing. Next time it does it, look at the square box that surrounds the gear indicated on the dash. When mine did it the box was not completely around the gear indicated. You may have some slop in the linkage to the tranny. It did it alot in Park as soon as you opened the door.

I thought you meant seat belt alarm, sorry. I talked to my son who is a dodge tech and he said once it's in the program it's in for good. Actually when I bought my truck new it didn't work then my son programed it to work and now he's sorry. I don't care cause we don't tow as much as we use to.

I hate that darn thing! if I putt my truck in park and open the door to fast the horn go's off.. Like today I pulled up at the gas station to get a drink and I put it in park and I guess opened the door to fast and there was a lady walking rite in front of where I parked. IT HONKED!!!. as you can guess she was not good looking in any way! Plus it didn't help her with the ugly look she gave me (LOL) It never dose it when there is a good looking girl.. unless I do it my self

I am new to my dodge, and found that it did that too. I believe that is called the out of park alarm. It is by far the most annoying thing I have ever found on a truck!
