Door hinge groaning
 

As long as I have owned my truck I have been fighting the problem of groaning and squealing from the spring loaded gizmo on each door hinge that holds the doors open. I have tried various kinds of lubricants and the noise stops for a month or two and then comes back. Have owned many kinds of vehicles and none have given me a problem like this one. All other vehicles need an oiling every year or so, but not the Ram.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to lubricate the roller and stop the groaning when the doors are opened?

I would use a spray of Moly-lube, It used to be sold at chrysler years ago, Its a white spray lube with molithium disulfate, good stuff.

Mine's the same way Stan. I haven't found a solution either except for getting in and out "Dukes of Hazzard" style. It's getting harder to do each year though....

I lube the heck out of mine with white lithium spray from Permatex at least once a year. Never been a problem.

That's what I use too. You might try hitting them with some sort of solvent (paint safe) and compressed air to clean them up before hitting them with lube. You might be able to remove some grit and grime and let the lube get in there better.

your problem is what your using. it may quiet it for some time but dirt and grit sticks to it and makes things worse and grinds your parts away. You need to flush all that mes away and start using a dry lube that wont collect the grit

There is no dirt around the door hinges or inside the doors as I keep them clean at all times. When I lube them I always wipe off the excess oil. When I spray new oil on the offending parts, the oil goes directly on to clean parts.

I'm using Lucas white lithium grease. I actually just grabbed it in a hurry as it was the only thing on the shelf.
