I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins and the door chime won't stop when the door is open and the key is out of the ignition. I had just removed the dash to replace the heater coil and blend doors. This problem started after I reassembled the dash. I have worked the key in and out but that doesn't help. When removing the dash the steering column has to be lowered so I'm not sure if something got damaged or tweaked. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check to make sure you didnt get any wires pinched in the column mount

I will check that today by lowering it back down and inspecting the wires. Also the chime goes off if I close the door or even flip the latch with a screw driver when open. Anyone know how the ignition switch knows when the key is in or out?
