disappointment

Only dissappointment so far with my 08 mega ctd 4x4 is it's performance in slick stuff. Last truck before this was an underpowered 93 Chevy suburban k1500 4x4. Never stuck it. This Dodge is horrible. Even with some weight added to the back to help balance the heavy CTD. Winter roads that the Burb would easily handle has this whale floundering and mud....stuck it yesterday in nearly nothing. Running stock size BFG All Terrains.

That's the problem right there.

Man, these trucks are way too big for those tires. Get some tires that are the same proportion as the truck.

I agree with that. Both types of stock tires suck on anything but dry pavement.

I agree. Its the tires. I got pulled out of 3 inches of mud in UT (I didnt want to put on my chains). Guy who pulled me out had an almost identical truck but had pitched the stock tires.

Lower air pressure to 30-35psi in the soft/slick stuff, that does wonders too.

Hasn't been a problem for me......I take mine in everything from sugar sand in El Paso.......ice in Oklahoma City............to the Snow and mud in Chama NM and up in Colorado......no problem getting stuck running 265 BFG AT/KO's.

I know that I had ran my truck off in a few bog holes with the stock size tires, they got me through, but it's not the first time I've been off the beaten path. I could feel how they were not enough, and with my current tires... I can feel what a difference they make.

Just spin'em fast an clean'em out maybe that will help. But proportional always looks better and works better.

Limited slip......yep.

I know this is answered elsewhere but me being lazy.....What's the biggest size I can run on stock rims with no lift?

I had good luck with BFG AT/KO's on my old truck but spinning the crap out of these got me no where but deeper in the hole. Opinions on a more aggressive tread that still handles ice and rain OK?

Got a set of BFG Mud Terrains on my old '79 short narrow bed GMC....the one with a built 350, gear drive x-fer case and manual front hubs....great rock climbing and in mud but suck on wet pavement/ice.

Either Copper ST or the STT tire if you want a traction tire that will dig like crazy.
