Differences between a CTD 2500 Auto SRW and a CTD 3500 Auto? SRW

Is the only difference betwwen these two trucks really the rear overload springs on the 3500?

Do we have a Dodge Tech that could weigh in on this issue?

Thanks for you thoughts.........

I believe the 3500s come with the roof markers standard, too.

I don't know all the difference, but I do know you can't slap a set of 3500 springs on there and call it a 1-ton. The 3/4-ton frame would need a bracket welded on to accomdate the bumps on the 1-ton overload springs.

They must have changed it recenty, when I got mine it was standard and I beleive its due to the fact of having a DRW truck, o well.

The cab lights are required on DRW, and were standard on SRW in '06. It was an option to delete them. Don't know how it works now.....

per dot regs. dually must have additional marker lights that a single rear wheel doesnt need

Would you guys say they are the same for towing capacity if overloads are added? Thanks for the responses.........I haven't decided to add the cab lights yet or not - my brother did but my wifey don't likem [duhhh]

ptgarcia Jan 21, 2008 10:32 PM

I'd say so.

The "tow capacity" is technically the same on the two trucks. The difference is in payload capacity which will allow the 3500 to handle more tongue/pin weight (plus cargo). The cab configuration will also affect payload (i.e. Reg>QC>Mega) as will 4X4 vs. 4X2, Auto vs. Manual, etc..

What type of trailer do you have in mind?
