On Dealer Lot for 9 Months, any Concerns?

Guys,

I'm looking to buy a 2007 5.9 that has been sitting on the dealer lot since August of 2006. The truck only has 12 miles on it, so I know it hasn't been run much if any during the last 9 months. Could this long amount of inactivity cause any problems??

Thanks

Should be fine! Mine was a left over 06 with a build date of 3/06 and I bought it 2/07.

When I bought my 04.5, it had been on the lot for 6 months. To make a long story short, there was algae/bacteria in the tank - after two years, 15 injectors, a new long block, and finally a new fueling system (tank to head and all in between), it's finally straight. Took repeats of the same issue, and some help from a better local dealership service dept. to get the factory rep to reach the conclusion, and luckily all my repairs were covered by either warranty or insurance. So, I would have them verify the condition of the fuel system as clean, or have them clean it out, ALL of it, before I bought. Sounds like petty overkill, but I wish I had been smart enough to do it!

not sure if its been a lot of inactivity. Its probably driven around the lot quite regularly. dealers are constantly shuffling and reorganizing the vehicles. Doesnt say where you are, but if it snows there then they were certainly moving it around to plow snow and letting it warm up to melt off the snow and ice

X-2. Plus, since its been on the lot for so long, theres probably a really good chance that you will get a killer price, just so the dealer can clear his lot up

X-3. Ask them to throw in a oil change, too. Don't let them give you that dealer BS about the factory oil having a 'special additive' so that it lasts longer. A wax job, too!

I bought mine after it had been on the lot 10 months, no problems...

Just check over the paint. The inventory probably isn't washed as muchas it should be and if bird droppings, fallout, etc has sat on the paint for any length of time, there may be some paint issues that cannot be easily fixed.
