Where and when in Sacramento? This would be worth the ride to watch...and we all know that once he starts going backwards, he will nail that throttle...and still be moving backwards...hope he doesn't get car sick!

Tug of war has NOTHING to do with hp/tq. It's all about weight. Guy in ne ohio has a lowered dakota that stomps the crap out of all the big trucks. He's packing weight on the front bumper and a ton in the back. If you have enough weight in it you should be able to just let the truck idle, get out and wave bye-bye to the other driver. I've lost tug of wars against stock trucks. Weigh that sucker down.

It's not about HP it's about traction. You could probably pull him in 4 lo with your starter motor. That would shut him up!

Weight and TQ make a huge difference, I remember years ago My buddy had a 1 ton Chev with a 454 and my Bro in Law had a 1/2 ton shortbed. They hooked and my buddy put his in 4lo 1st gear got out of the truck and walked along side of it while my Bro in law was spinning his tires in 4hi drive getting pulled at full throttle by a truck idling in 4lo.

I agree that weight and traction are the most important. I'd be stowing the heaviest stuff I could find, everywhere on my truck. After you snooker him on the tug war, see if he'll go double or nothing towing something really heavy up the steepest hill you can find. That's what I'd like to see!! Craig

Here is a video of an Dodge and Toyota in a tug of war. Can't tell if the Dodge is a diesel, but is an 2500.

It's 401 tq, 381 hp as mentioned above...with a 4.30 rear. I was actually looking at them before I drove a cummins. The test drive with the Tundra was less than impressive. It looks good on paper though. What kind of surface are you doing this on? I'd think that much like a human tug of war, the side that loses traction first will lose. Think about that if you're doing it in dirt or gravel...the cummins torque could be your enemy.

Yes, where?

I am 6 hours from Sacramento, for this I can make it in 4.5. What a weekend!
Pats and Cowboys and now this...let me check the fridge again, just to make sure I'm ok.
The second most important thing about this is:
Someone with a video camera recording everything!!

I can't believe this kid would actually think he could pull you with his yota. Those silly commercials must really have him brainwashed

tow him for about ten miles and when you finally stop tell him you got a call on your cell phone and forgot he was back there.

That is great

Those commercials really have people sold that thesse trucks are the greatest thign to ever happen to the truck industry. They can tow blah blah blah.... With 4.30 gears, lets see what the other half ton trucks in the class could do

OH, and someone in the crowd with a video camera FTW

What not to do.

Let him spin and you pull, not the other way around.
