Creaking noise from the bed.(of the Truck)

I have a creaking noise coming from the bed. It sounds like the left side. It makes more noise when I turn. It sounds like a rubber bushing. We tried rocking the bed and could not duplicate the noise. It only happens when driving. I only have 2K miles and have not had a load in the bed. Everything looks tight. Any ideas would be appreciated.

i'm interested to know the answer as well...my truck does it the most when i turn left

Did you happen to add NERF Bars to the side of the truck? Mine started doing the creaking thing too, after I added "Wheel to Wheel Tech Tubes". I tried putting some white grease on the rubber pieces between the bolts and the frame. I thought that would solve it and it did help......but it still squeaks some. Any other ideas?

I've heard creaking noises from the bed before, but the source was obvious, and is not fit to print here!!! Sorry, I just could not resist! The subject left it wide open.

Guys, I hear this too on my truck a Quad cab Long bed and it seems to only happen when the truck is trying to "twist" the frame like when turning into a parking lot. Its been to nasty up here to try to figure it out...

In all seriousness now, mine does that too. I have a quadcab longbed dually, and the contour of my driveway causes some twisting action when I pull into the driveway. There's a nasty sounding pop from somewhere back along the bed when I go more than about 1 mph while pulling in.

Mine does this too what is this strange noise (pop!)  ?

My father was in the truck when it did it the other day, and said "Its a heavy duty pick-up, its going to make some noises.):) You know what my problem is, I never have my radio on, cause I want to hear the wonderful sound of the cummins, so these noises are more apparent! [laugh] :D love this sound!

Mine does the same thing. When I turn into my driveway the slope of the hill causes the bed to twist a bit and I get a nasty thunk from the bed area.

If anyone figures out the source, please post it here as I'd like to fix mine too.

Check/Grease the tailgate hinges and latches. See if that helps. I have had trucks do this when the frame twists (F250SD that twisted a ton) and it was the hinge suddenly releasing (pop). Grease will allow it to move with the twist instead of popping suddenly.

Just my guess..

Yep.

Mine does it too, but I think it's due to the nerf bars install. I think I over torqued the frame bushing bolts and compressed the bushings too much, since I didn't have a torque wrench.

Funny you mention that my 04.5 just started the same thing last week. I also notice it when turning the wheel left and right. Sorta sounds like a truck that's on its last leg after 20 yrs of service. Mine is going into the dealer for it this friday. Dealer said bushings might be dirty. Maybe this problem will allow me to get those poly bushings I've been looking at.

I had the same thing a year ago, turned out to be two things: 1.) nerf bars, 2.) the fuel tank heat shield, it has some clips on it that hold it to the tank that work themselves loose. just push them back on.

I have a loud BANG/SNAP from it seems more right rear and much worse in cold weather(like low 30s or in the 20s)and hitting a bump or pothole.Almost like a heavy piece of metal hits hard.Only kinda does it once and its hard to duplicate. In warm weather its rare it will do it.
