Cracked driver side window 06 Mega
Cracked driver side window 06 Mega
Got up one day with a little crack in the window. By the end of the day it had spread around quite nicely. Dealer has ordered another window, should be in by thrusday. The interesting point was this was the 5th unit the dealer has had to order the same window on a 06 mega cab. Another guy I was chatting to on the radio last week said the same thing happened to him as well, so that makes 6 that I have heard of just around here, anybody eles experiencing this issue? what could be the cause? bad run of glass? I have no idea.
Got the driver side replaced, and now the passenger side has gone as well. All replaced on warranty of course. From what I gather this is not a mega cab related problem as I previously stated, it can happen on any of the truck body styles. Something puts pressure on the bottom of the glass while it is rolled up and the crack allways starts from this spot underneath the weather stripping and then moves its way through the rest of the window. Anyhow I hope the new glass holds out from here on, kind of a drag, but they have got replacing them down to 20 minutes.
Well, here we go. The idiot service manager at EAST CAROLINA DODGE says there is a chip in the window. There is NO CHIP WHATSOEVER. I've been on the phone with DC for about a half an hour now trying to get this resolved. I keep y'all posted.
I haven't experience that problem, but I have noticed that the rear door flex's when you roll up and down the rear windows. It is causing a crink in the metal at the rear edge where the window meets the door panel. just sit in your truck and look while you roll the window up and down, it flex's out about 1/4... this can't be good for the door sheet metal.... like I said, I already have a "wave" in the metal????? anyone else see this???

Needless to say I'm not very happy. I'm gonna go shoot something, maybe that will calm me down. Good thing I keep old cell phones, cause when I get this ****** shooting a couple of them usally does the trick.
Great, they do that so when the A/C doesn't work you have ventilation! You got to laugh, my A/C (blend door) issue has been going on 4 months!
New for 06 was the laminated side glass, can it handle the stress and strain moving? It works for windshields and large rear glass pieces.

That's it exactly. My buddy that owns a glass shop said that the curved glass riding in a curved track combined with excessive pressure from the window mechanism WILL make laminated glass crack. The radii are not concentric which compounds the problem. Plus it's way too thin.
Well, after several hours on the phone with DC they are going to cover it. I'm still not real happy with what I had to go through to get this done. At least I had some fun trying to get DC to let me talk to Dr. Z. You should have heard that one!
Jphii- thats all we can do is call, call and complain! I call DC and send "Dr.Z" mail to stay on them until they give in.... The problem with the OEM'S these days are they are too quick to market with new technologies and the performance/endurance testing before product release is not sufficient. You know what they say... Don't buy the first production year of anything.
Speaking from experience, I work for a large OEM supplier.
