Clunk when turning wheel...

Hey all.... lately I'm getting a "clunk" when low speed wheel turning. Can hear it and feel it especially when sitting still and turning wheel. Both directions. Got under and grabbed a hold of everything and all feels tight but haven't had a chance to get someone behind wheel to turn while I'm underneath to see if any play anywhere.

Anyone else experience this and results????

I have the newer heavy duty steering for the last 40k miles. Rebuilt my Thuren trac bar resently also.

Sounds like Ball joints popping. Grabbing and pulling wont do anything with weight on wheels

BigDave,
I have all new joints, NorrisMquay extreme greaseables for about 10,000 miles when I installed my Dynatrac free spin setup.
After doing more research I'm thinking it might be steering shaft related.

I had a similar problem. Was the intermediate steering shaft. Replaced under warranty, no more clunk felt in through steering wheel.

you havent check them? Not unheard of that a ball joint fails in 10k even the pricey ones.

Not yet but I will... I agree with your statement but hope you're wrong [laugh]

To much rain outside now for that gig... maybe tomorrow. I'll post back to report results...

I believe both sides uppers and lowers were around $260... not cheap but nothing like the exotics..

Tighten your track bar on the driver's side. You just might amaze yourself.

I had this problem, especially when it was wet, and tightening cured the pop.

My track bar seemed tight but I got under there with a 3 foot cheater bar on my 1/2" drive and got maybe a quarter turn. Super tight now.

and guess what? NO MORE CLUNK.... [coffee]
