Hey guys. When my A/C compressor cycles on and off, I have begun to hear a pretty good "thud", sometimes even more like a squeek. Are these symptoms of failure to come? Should I be concerned?

A thud is usually only heard when the a/c hasn't been on for awhile, general consensus is its normal, it should be less pronounced while it is cycling on/off. The squeak makes me think maybe the belt or tensioner is worn.

 

You might try tightening the nut on the front of the compressor clutch. After reading a post on here about it I checked mine and it was a little loose. I had a thud prior to tightening it and none now. It might be worth a shot.

 

Mine has made the thud noise since new. Never heard a squeak though.

 

Mine has made a thud since new, but only in the morning after it has sat all night.
