BigBlueDodge must go on a diet

So I'm filling up today at the truck station and decide to weigh my truck. I weighed with full tank of diesel and me in it. With all the mods below, my truck came in at ..... (drum roll please)..

That's right boys and girls.... 7700lbs . I was a bit shocked at first, expecting somewhere around 7200lbs (from what I've read on here). But then got to thinking about it.

Heavier BFG tires than stock
Added nerf bars
Added heavy Class V rear hitch
Added front reciever hitch
Added bed lid
Spray in bed liner.

Anyway, just thought I'd post my results for others to see.

Ammm, "2004.5 CTD QC 4x4 6sd" what? 2500? 3500 DRW? 3500 SRW? Long Bed, short bed? Quad Cab? Standard cab?

7700# might not mean much if it's a QC/LB Dually, that's not all that heavy.

My 2500 LB/QC came in at 7340 if I remember correctly. That's basically stock.

Mine was 7020lbs completely empty on public scales with about 1/8 tank fuel. With me, minimal tools and fuel tank full I think it was about 7390lbs.

FYI, I weighed the BFG 315s on stock alloy and stock chrome clad while switching.

Stock Alloy 25.5 lbs.
Stock Chrome Clad 41.5 lbs.

Stock Alloy with 315s 85.5 lbs.
Stock Chrome Clad with 315s 101.5 lbs.

I have five 315s on Chrome Clad now. 507.5 lbs of tires and wheels.

OK.... but is it a 3500 or 2500?

I see from one of your other posts that it's a SRW, but aren't the 3500s still a little heavier than the 2500s?

Mine is a 2500, when I was looking at SRW 3500s the only difference that I could tell was extra overload rear spring, heavier front spring and Cab Marker Lights. So I think the difference between 2500 and 3500 SRW trucks is about 100lbs. I dont remember exactly where I found the data sheets, but I belive that the Base Curb weight for 2500 QC SWB 4x4 auto/3.73 was around 6775lbs, the Base Curb weight for 3500 QC SWB SRW 4x4 auto/3.73 was around 6880lbs.

big blue, is your house in south fort worth. That neighborhood looks like one my friends live in. They live off of south hulen and columbus or columbia. Cant remember the name of their street but that looks so familiar.

Not to steal your thread but everyone should check their weight on their registration. I say this as I just got mine (pink one for now) in the mail and it mentioned my truck weighed in at 5699 with a TOTAL weight of just 6099. I said like NO WAY. I could only keep 400 pounds in the back bed. Luckily, I know of a registry person and she is in the process of correcting my problem. Seems like the dealer wrote down the wrong numbers. I also paid tax for a GAS truck and not a Diesel. You'd think he would know the difference.

Either way, origin from DC says 6799 empty with a 9000 Gross on the little sticker. So they are fixing that along with the proper fuel that it takes --- DIESEL

Now to load purchase some goodies (bars, different bedliner, stuff like that) and have it weighed down at the local dump that has scales.

BEHRMAN - Then maybe you should watch what you eat so it doesn't give you so much gas

We have almost the same truck. Mine, before the shell and grille guard was put on, but with the step bars and the tonnou, weighed in at 7300 with a full tank. Now it weighs in at 7680 with the shell, grille guard, and carpet kit. The NV5600 with the cast iron case is one heavy pig.

I'm 7700# with 4 passengers, tools, FW hitch and full tank.
With my FW pin loaded I'm running at 9200#typ gross, 17700# combined-gross.

I never did figure out why this could be considered 300# high for my 2500 but would be OK for an equivalent 3500SRW...
