Use outside air until the cabin is filled with fresh air and cooled, then switch to recirc. That's how I've always done it.

Yet when I switced back to the face vents it would warm back up. Outside temp was about 80*, and I know the air coming out when it was on defrost was nowhere near 80. ?????
Pretty sure all new vehicles run the compressor when the defroster is turned on. Unless you dial up the heat, it will blow colder air.

X2

I've been working in Nebraska lately and when I drive by a cattle feed lot, I switch it to recirc. real quick! Recirc doesn't suck the outside smell into the cab. That smell's hard to get outta the seats.

After reading all the posts about recirc door failure, I don't use it.

I used recirc for the first time today in this truck. The air was noticeably colder than on a similar day. I usually do not run my a/c, but when it gets up into the 90's and i'm not on the interstate the beads begin to roll....
