B&W turnover GN ball and Pacbrake airbags

I'm getting the truck ready to haul a GN and wanted some comments on this setup. Anything I need to watch for? Prefered place to order?

I've been doing some searches and so far this seems to be a nice setup. Just wanted ya'lls opinion before pulling the trigger.

Love my airbangs. There is a DTR store right on this site. I would also suggest investing in a PRXB Exaust brake. I got my gooseneck hitch from a local shop. Not sure where to the best price is on those.

One of my friends has the B&W flipover on one of his truck and another flipover on another truck and said he doesn't like them. He wants me to mount the ball solid or install a pop up style on both trucks. He said it doesn't take long for slop to wear into the flipover stuff fwiw.

I put airbags on my truck and love it. It helped big time when pulling a full horse trailer or moving the tractor around.

Can't speak for the airbags. But as far as the B&W; love it. Never had any problems with it. And with 160,000+ on the truck, there is still no slop in the receiver area. And unlike a plate with a ball, you can make your bed flat in no time. And with the pop-up style *****, I've had friends with them and their main complaint was getting dirt, hay, etc, down around the ball and not being able to pop it up (whether it be one that lays down horizontal, or one that pops up and down).

Yea, the buddy that's buying the trailer has a fold down style and I could see where getting dirt and crap in there would be a hassle. It's also a finger pincher if your not carefull.

I love my B&W and plan on air bags very soon!! I had my B&W installed before I even took delivery of my truck. A coworker of mine just put a pac-brake on his 06 mega and he loves it. I say pull the trigger you won't regret it!!!!!!

Looking at the Firestone bags that take the place of the bumpstops vs the pacbrake bags that sit inboard of the springs.... Would the firestones be more stable?

There doesn't seem to be too many people that carry the pacbrake bags.

Had several

I have had several B&W mounted in my trucks. They are great, flat bed when you need and easy to do. I had one in a Ford Dually with over 150,000 miles pulling all kinds of trailers and different weights and never had any slop. My 2002 CD and now my 2005 have them and both have over 100,000 and no slop. I guess if you jerk on stops and starts all the time you could wear one out but then you would probably be tearing your truck up too.

After reading this, I went out to see if I had any slop. I had zero movement. And that's with over 250,000 mile's pulling a 3 car trailer.

The Pacbrake bag's are supposed to be more heavy duty than the other's. I know I've seen them all, and installed the Pacbrake's. They have more re-inforcement band's, and it looked like the rubber was thicker to me. But I can't swear to that with out cutting one open. I know I run 130 psi in mine alot of the time, and haven't had any problem's.

I thought I read somewhere that they were rated to 100 psi?

How do ya'll have em plumbed up? Filler shrader valves in the bumper or air compressor mounted somewhere?

They are rated for 100psi. That's a cover their butt rating. And of coarse the tech didn't tell me I could run a little more.

I have 2 Viar 480 compressor's, and a 5 gal tank in my tool box. I just fill it with an air hose for now. Valve at the bumper like you said. The in cab switch's are pretty pricy. I'm doing it one step at a time.

I know alot of guy's have had good luck with the Goodyear compressor's. But alot have had them crap out real quick. You would never know it by looking at picture's on the web, but the Goodyear compressor is tiny compaired to the Viar. I wouldn't have realized it unless I just happen to be in Atlanta where Summit is located, and got to see them in person. So if you're thinking of on board air at some point, keep that in mind.

After reading the pacbrake install manual I realized that they remove the bumpstop to bolt the upper brackets on and the lower end mounts inboard of the spring pack.

Got my hitch ordered yesterday afternoon for $349 shipped which was the best price I'd found anywhere local or web. Should see it early next week.

I'll probably get the bags on order once I recover from the hitch.

Scoutman, I did my install myself. Only help I had was to have someone stand in the bed and lift the plate up to the crossmembers from above and hold it while I started the bolts. If you do it yourself, just remember, measure twice, cut once. Actually I think I measured at least four times. That 4" hole in the bed looks monstrous. And I hate to think what I would have done if I'd cut it wrong. But the install is easy. Instructions are easy to follow. I'd say it's about a six pack install.

The hitch came in yesterday and man that kit is HEAVY! 35# for one box and 45# for the second box. I have an engine hoist and a buddy ready to help but I think I'll start the beer drinking after I cut that monster 4" hole.
