Quick question, I recently replaced my HU with a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB(50wx4) and replaced the front speakers with some Alpine SPS-609(6x9/260w), I 'm looking to replace the rear speakers. Should I go with a 6 1/2 or stay with 5 1/4 and also should I find a set that matches total watts as the front or does it matter?

I found it was hard to find rear speakers that would be able to handle the power capacity of the front 6x9s.

just for fun, try running 260 watts through those Alpines and see what happens- i would advise standing back and having your warranty card handy.
those Apines can probably handle a little more than 100 watts before things get interesting, and a good pair of 5.25's should require around 50 watts RMS, and start sounding and smelling funky around 100. see post #97 for more info.

Ok, well I bought a Kenwood KAC-8452 4 channel amp.

Maximum Output Power 800W
Rated Power Output 70W x 4 (4Ω)
Rated Power Output 90W x 4 (2Ω)
Bridged Power Output (4Ω) 180W x 2

It came with a 4 channel Kicker patch cables, so I am trying to figure out if I should buy the additionally needed installation wires seperately, or still buy the complete amp install kit........with another set of patch cables (that will just sit around and not be used).

I need to buy:
-Power cable
-Ground wire
-Blue turn-on lead wire
-Speaker wire

What guage should I get for all of the wiring?

It appears that I can just use any ole' normal strand braided wire for the turn-on wire.......correct?

Also, can you guy give me estimate on what length of wires I will need to buy?

depends on where you are mounting the amp. Expect 13-15 feet if you are mounting on the back wall. Maybe 8-10 feet if you are mounting under the driver's seat.

-The remote turn-on wire should be 16gauge, blue.
-The power wire should be no smaller than 8 gauge but I personally don't run anything smaller than 4 gauge no matter the output of the system.
-The ground wire should be the same as the power wire.

Many amp kits don't include RCA's so you would still be better off buying a kit. It will also include the in-line (i prefer ANL) fuse for the power wire, battery terminal rings, ground rings, everything you need with the exception of RCAs and speaker wire. Since you already have RCAs, all you would need is some 16 gauge speaker wire and you are good to go.

Yes, I am planning on mounting the amp under the drive seat.

How far/close to the amp should I mount the ground wire? Can I ground the amp to the seat track mounting bolts?

Within a foot or two. Grounding on one of the seat track bolts is just fine.
