I just ordered some add on's from Truckaddon's.com. They also gave me a good price on wheels for my truck, about $50 a pc. cheaper from anywhere else. They told me to go with a set of Nitto Terra Grappler's for my truck. Told me about $240 a pc for around a 33in tire, and thats the tire, mounting, nitrogen air filled, and road force balancing.

If anyone has these tires or knows of anybody with them, let me know, I was kind of hopeing to get a tire a little cheaper than $240 each, but they look like a good tire on Nitto's website.

I had them on my 2001 and they were good tires. The only bad part was they were worn out in 40k miles and I rotated every 10k miles and never abused them.

 

That sounds afull high to me but I dont know. I just bought a set of rims and tires used with Nitto Tera Graplers on them. Suposadly have 10,000 very hard miles on them. The 2 that came off the back are 90% gone and 2 that came off the front are probobly around 40% gone. The tires are a 295-70-17 and if I do my math corctly that comes out to 33.52 inches tall. I was told new ones where going to run me just short of $200each. Lucily i got all the rims and tires for a total of $500 plus my old factory steal rims and tires. The rims are made buy ION but I cant find any info on them on the web.

 

I've had mine for almost 30k or so and I've still got at least another 10k on them. I bought my 35's for $200/tire at discount tire.

 

I have the Nitto's on the 3rd truck now. Good Stuff!

There is a set of them in my gallery but they were well over the price your being quoted.

I had my 305/55/20s on two trucks and over 20K miles... 10 of which was on a road trip from WA to TX and back... and still had plenty of tread left on them.

The size I have 295-70-17 are only $149. The cheapest I can find them localy is around $200.

 

Nitrogen Air Filled

 

I thought the price was a bit high, I guess being they were low on the wheels I liked, they had to make it up somewhere else.

As far as the Nitrogen air filled, I think its supposed keep moisture out of the tire or something like that. I'm sure theres someone that will read this and know the true answer for the nitrogen.

 

Well it wont keep any moisture out of there. Atleast not if you ever have one go low and need to put some air in it. There wont be any in there the initial inflation but once you put a air chuck to it it will have some. And if you dont do that moisture cant get in anyhow so if teh compresor you use to inflate it the first time has a good air dryer on it it will be just as good. I personaly cant figure any real resone in my head for the Nitrogen charge. My shocks on my sport ATV are Nitrogen charged but that is because it keeps the oil in them from foaming up over non stop ruff terain at speed. The only posible thing I can think of is that I balive it is denser (heavier) than air and would theoreticly be bit of a sound deadener so the tires have a bit less of a holow sound to them over cracks in the road and bumps. I dont know just a therey.

 

I beleive it is used because of its heat tolerance or lack of pressure change with added heat from driving.... NOT SURE BUT THINK I READ THAT IN A COSTCO AD as they now use it in every tire sold.

Probably to help keep the tires cool. Sounds like a scam. If you off-road and air down at all, you'll be out of nitogen in no time. Tell them to save the nitro and knock some dollars off.

 

That price seems like a rip-off.

Discount Tire (tires.com) sells them for about $170 (295/70R17), and that includes installation and free tire rotations for life.

However, I should also point out that they are presently out of stock. Anyway, I would shop around a little more if I were you.

 

It makes them lighter giving you better gas milage, like a nitrogen filled balloon....oh wait

 

Nitrogen Air Filled from what I hear is to keep a more accurate air pressure within the tire. So yes, if you go 4-wheeling and you air down/up, it isn't worth the $$. As the tire rotates on roads, it will increase the heat inside the tire expanding it due to increased pressure. Nitrogen will help with the increase/decrease as the tire warms up or cools down.

Hey Bkrukow - Barre tire.com is right down the road from me. I have been driving past them and they have a lot of tires and 20" - 24" rims. I haven't stopped in on them yet to check prices of tires. Need some $$ before I do that.
