Any good fix for the door weatherstrip issue?

Has anyone had their local dealer come up with a good fix for the weatherstrip that continues to get tore up? My local dealers only answer is to have me keep coming in periodically and replace it. Down side is it eats up a half day of time. I have tried some of the dry silicone spray, as well as other lubricants and eventually the weatherstripping still gets tore up over time.

I had the TSB done at the dealer 6 months ago and the new strip doesn't rub at all.

Did you get the redesigned weatherstrip yet?

the last time I had it in they didn't mention anything about a re-designed version. Thanks for the info, I will give a call back and have them check.

I also got the redesigned weather strips. Picked them up for about $60.00 at the dealer and installed myself very easy and took about 5 min.

Do you have a part number? How are they redesigned? A photo would be great! My driver's side has been replaced once and is OK, but doesn't look like it will hold up.

No pic or part# but just as stated before the area around the lower a pillar is flat so the door will not catch it when it opens.

My two '03 models had both designs. The earlier w/strip was flat like what the TSB changes them to. The later '03 I had was built with the w/s that tears. This truck did not have a certain wind noise like the earlier truck had. That's why the redesign during the '03 model year to add the extra "puffy" part of the seal that tears. Danged if you do(wind noise) and danged if you don't(tearing from the door). My '06 has the best design yet. It is flat where the door would contact it, and "puffy" above that point to the top of the door. What takes them so long?

there is also a weatherstrip change for the lower door. It has a section that comes up about 6" in the front. Keeps mud and gunk from gathering on the door jam. Then off your pants. Worth doing.

i ordered the new weather stripping a few months back for the lower doors- i was highly disappointed!! same as the "old" style on my truck-except, there was an added inch on one end that would require drilling one new hole in each door, so that this additional inch could wrap up the door! i cut this added inch off. took out the push pins that held on the old weather stripping and put the new over the old and reinstalled the push pins-yes- i doubled up on the weatherstripping- guess what? works 100% better!! solved the problem!
