Annoying noise when you go over bumps.

Hi there everyone. I had a noise that drove me nuts when the truck would go over bumps. It seemed to come from the drivers door panel but that was not the case. The noise actually was comming from the seat belt ancor point. The ancor as you know moves up and down for personal adjustment and there is a plastic insert that travels up and down with the ancor. This plastic piece fills the void that would otherwise be a hole when the ancor piece is in the extreme up or down position.

I placed some felt on the inside of the panel that surrounds the seat belt ancor and the noise is gone. Dan

Did you have to remove any trim to install the felt? I have the same noise, talk about irritating.

No I just moved the seat belt ancor up or down to gain access to the gap in the plastic pieces and gently pushed the felt inside.

I used to have a loud clanking noise every time I went over a bump that made me think there was something wrong with my truck. Turned out it was just the drawbar bouncing up and down inside the trailer hitch.

I have this annoying noise coming from inside the cab also. It only occurs when my wife is in the passenger seat.

I think I just answered my own question.

No she doesn't know what a DTR is. Even if she did, she would laugh. I am lucky to have found a gal with a great sense of humor.......and a wicked left hook!

Thank you ever so much! I have the same noise and have been holding the door, running with the window open and closed trying to figure out what it was. I have been putting off pulling the door apart to have a look but now I don't have to. Cheers!

I found another rattle tonight on my drive home. The bass from my factory speakers seem to set off a rattle towards the back of the truck. Well it turns out after holding onto everything within reach while driving, it is the dome light fixture. The smaller one that sits above the front seats.

my pop took a piece of 1/16" 2" stainless shim and hammered it into the reciever on his... it ain't ever coming out.. we tried. pulled the pin on it, left it hooked to the trailer, trailer brakes on full and pulled forward. dragged the trailer and didn't move the reciever... it's going to be sold with the truck when it goes... torch will remove it though with a nice long cutting tip on it.
