air bag compressors
I'm looking at adding a on-board compressor kit to my airbags, and was wondering where everyone else that has compressors has installed them, in cab or outside of cab? (and pictures if possible)

I don't have a compressor for my bags but I'm gonna say most folks are going to have theirs mounted on the frame rails somewhere or in the engine compartment. I don't think you'd want it anywhere inside the cab.

I'm going to be installing a compressor and air tank for my pacbrake and air bags in the near future. I plan to make brackets that mount to the fraim rail without drilling into the rails. Will post pics when I start.....
I guess air horns come next huh????LOL

I actually use 2 compressors, one that came with my PAC brake and the other with my air bags. The PAC is mounted to the top front of the engine as per the instructions that came with it. The Ride-Rite pump is mounted inside my tool box. I can hear each but not when the engine is running.

I had my old truck mounted under my seat. Noise was not a problem, as it only runs when you need it.My current truck is in a side mounted box. I have and had, a under body tank mounted and air hose for airing up tires. Very handy !

I started out with the Firestone kit with the compressor and tank mounted in the engine bay. When I aired up my bags I needed to wait on the compressor so I could air up the second bag and level it out. Honestly, it took about the compressor 3 cycles so I could do this.
Since then I've done some upgrades; the first was with 5 gallons of air and a Zenith OB2 so I could run both my bags and my train horns. After that, I added the wireless controller from Air Lift which I highly recommend. Then I added an engine driven compressor and upgraded from 5 gallons of air to an 8.5 gallon tank.
Once you have OBA (onboard air) you'll start finding uses for it you didn't think you'd need it for, but all of a sudden life just gets easier with.

We have a variety of compressor kits. You can check them all out here: Air Lift Compressor Kits
Most people mount compressors under the bed, along the framerails, or something like that. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here are pics of the viair 200psi compressor and 2.5 gal tank installed on brackets I have attached to the frame rails under the drivers side of my truck. I made brackets to sandwich the rail so I wouldn't have to drill into the frame. I also made a stainless steel splash gaurd to protect the compressor.
I have them installed but not plumbed or wired yet. I'm taking my time so as to make as clean an install as possible. Will post pics later of the installl after I go photograph what is done so far....

angle iron....old bed frame actually LOL
I have a great resource of raw materials in my back yard, the previous owner was a horder and collected lots of useable stuff. Even the stainless steel splash gaurd for the compressor came from the "bone yard", I just had to modify what was a cover of some sort.....

Awesome! Let me know if there's anything you can't figure out when you go to install it. It's pretty straightforward but I'm here to help.
