adding keyless entry to a st ram

I am wondering if any of you guys have added factory keyless entry to your 3rd gens using mopar parts? I just bought a 2010 st and I really would like to get the keyless entry added to it using factory componants. I already have the power locks so I am thinking if I get the transmitter, reciever and the remote itself I should be good to go. I have called a couple of local dealer parts dept.'s and I get "Huh?" in response when I ask them about it. One guy said "no there isn't anything out for the 2010 model trucks yet". Yea O.K., it looks to me like you have several of them out here on your lot with keyless entry. Anyway, if any of you have done this I would appreciate some insight if you have the time. I assume that if you can convert a 3rd gen with factory parts you should be able to do the same with a 4th gen. I have found the parts I think I need online at a mopar wholesale place, but I don't want to order a few hundred dollars worth of parts and not be able to put them to good use. Thanks in advance for any help you may offer, and if I can figure this out I will respond with my findings to possibly help others somewhere along the way.

Might be cheaper to purchase an Alarm, they lock and unlock the doors as you arm/disarm.

Yes, you can ad keyless entry...

Ok, I have a 2010 Ram 2500 ST as well and it did not come with keyless entry, but I just added it. Of course you have to have power locks to make this work at all.
Here's how:
You need the remote keyless FOBIK p/n 502637AG, they cost about $40 ea.
You need the emergency keyblank p/n 68029829AB that goes in the end of the FOBIK, they cost about $25 ea.
You can get both of them from WeRMopar.com, they aren't listed on the website, but they have them. You can call Jerry at 866-453-2250, or get them locally, your choice.
As far as the truck is concerned you will need to take it to the dealer and have it programmed EXACTLY like this, in this order, if you don't, it won't work.

-add sales code GXM to vehicle options

-under diagnostic procedures with Wi-tech do a restore vehicle configuration

-the Wi-tech will then reset

-go into the WCM under misc. functions hit the reset WIN configuration

-clear all codes then program the new keys

this works, I had it done today.
no more fumbling around in the dark for me...

Here are the p/n's listed on my receipt right from the dodge dealer:
fobik (transmitter) 5026376AG
key 68029829AB
Sorry about leaving a number off in the original post.
The delaer should be able to find the numbers either way....they are the fobiks and keys for a 2010 ram.
You can always call the place listed in my original post.

Try this....You can get both of them from WeRMopar.com, they aren't listed on the website, but they have them. You can call Jerry at 866-453-2250, or get them locally, your choice.
Just tell them you need key fobs and keys for your ram and they will handle it all from there.

This is from the email that they originally sent me...."Hi Russ The key blank which I stock is part number 68029829AB and cost 20.25.The transmitter is part number 5026376AG and cost is 38.55.This part number doesnt come up in my online system but I can force it in on my end if you need it.At this time iI have two in stock.Let me know if you need them. Thanks Jerry WeRMopar 866-453-2250"

it does work. we did many of the truck on our lot just as stated above. all you need is the fobic and key and program and done.

go to another dealer if they are not interested in helping you out. OR

Go to the general manager and tell him you are having issues with the service dept on this request. maybe if he has a brain, he will figure out that all the ST models on the lot can be converted cheap and add a sale pitch for increased sales. that is what we did and only charged the customer the cost of the fobic.

djdave.....i just don't know what to tell you. I have provided explicit instructions in a previous post, in the exact order they need to be done. Did you print that out and take it to them? This was the EXACT procedure that I had performed on my truck at a local Dodge dealer. They were happy to try it and if it worked, sell the upgrade to future customers. It worked. I was happy. They were happy. Everyone was happy. My factory remote entry now works for me everyday, as it should. The procedure needs to be performed just as stated above. If they won't do it, and I can't imagine why they wouldn't at least try it, then find another dealer. I had 2 local dealers tell me the only way to do it was to install the factory remote starter kit....well guess what...they were WRONG. This procedure is 5 steps. It takes less than 10 minutes to do. What have they got to lose trying it. I have given you all of the information I have. The dealer I used is in Maryland. If you are close to Aberdeen, Maryland, then call Cook Dodge and ask for Kory in the service dept. he can do the install for you. All I can tell you is that it works.....good luck.

I dont know what the deal with them is either.. I can tell you my truck is a 2011 ram 2500 st crew cab with a 6.7 and a g56 and its less then a month old with about 150 miles on it.. The dealer I bought it from here in swpa.. laurel valley dodge. in Latrobe Pa. . laughed at me.. I even brought the printed instructions with me..they told me Im tring to cheat the system by doing it and it wont work. I called soloman dodge in carmicheals pa... they basically said the same thing. I did call tri star chrysler dodge this afternoon.. he told me he would try it.. but if it didnt work I would be stuck with the $149 keyfob.. and labor.. I told him I was willing to try it.. I did talk to wermopar, the gentleman you told me to speak to quoted me a price of 110 for the fobik.. I found some online for 69.. and on ebay I found one for 39.. so now im waiting to see if its the same part # as what you posted.

I do thank you for all the help thou.. I will let you all know when I get this done..

thanks again

I don't know why they think you are "cheating" the system. it becomes a dealer installed option. The truck already has all of the installed equipment necessary from the factory. All they need to do is program it to be active, then program some fobs to the truck. It really can't be any simpler. Call Cook Dodge at 410-272-1500, ask for Kory. He did the programming for mine, and it works just like I said. I got my fobs locally from Thompson Dodge, the "list" price on my receipt is only $42.85 for the Transmitter (FOBIK) p/n 5026376AG, and the "list price for the key, p/n 68029829AB is $28.00, you can call them at 410-288-3100. Maybe your 2011 takes a different fob that is more expensive right now, I have a 2010 truck. WOW...I just called Thompson Dodge and they told me the FOBIK was $149....I paid $42.85 for it in Sept. (which was in the same price range as WeRMopar), maybe I got lucky and someone put the wrong pricing in the computer, so if you can find it cheaper, then do so. If you want to add fog lights to your truck, you will have to have that programmed in the computer too (yes, it needs to be programmed into the computer as a dealer installed option to tell the truck that is has them). You can have them do that while they are in the computer for this, which will save you some money. They are making this way more difficult than it has to be, but so did 2 of my local dealers. I found that Cook Dodge had some ST models and that customers were asking about adding remote keyless entry to them. Cook Dodge didn't think it was possible either. I just proposed that they try it, if it worked then they could make money from it, if not, then no harm. Good luck.

When you get it done, you can take it back to the dealer you bought it from and gloat....which is always good....then when they ask you for the instructions so that they can do it to other trucks, you can tell them to buy the info from you....or go screw themselves...whichever you prefer.....
