Adding Keyless entry

I bought a keyless entry package on ebay for 40 bucks. Its says that is plugs in behind the dash, but then goes on to say that requires programming. Do I need to take it to the dealer for the programming, is it plug n play, or can I program myself.

You can install the RKE module behind the dash yourself, but you have to take it to the dealer for programming. Takes about 5 minutes to program (using a DRB III scan tool) the RKE module to accept the new vehicle access code. Kind of pisses me off that they don't make these things plug-and-play.

Does the dealer give your grief as in warranty violation because you took the dash apart.

It's your truck, you can do whatever you want with it. Now if you broke something while tearing it apart, and then wanted the dealer to fix it (under warranty), you might catch some grief. I had my RKE programmed at the same time as the C02 recall, and there was no charge.

I've seen them on eBay for 68 bucks with one remote, but never 40. That's a great deal considering the Remote Keyless Entry is a $190 option when it is installed at the factory.
