Sorry to hear that man....have you done the a/c mod also??? I'd imagine low freon or possible leak. The integrity of these pumps are fine, but its the capacity where it falls flat, it is underpowered from the factory with low freon and it is too small for heavy duty use. But a few small things will help, like charging slightly higher, the a/c mod, and cleaning the fins on the condenser. Also make sure the ac control head is functioning properly and fluctuating itself from cold to warm. Hope your compressor didn't go bad...

A/c

My compressor on the '98.5 was a Nippondenso I believe. Anybody know the origin of these 3rds? I've got a regcab which must of been what Dodge designed the system for. It's always ice cold.

I believe there's a rash of compressor failures with the '06. Dodge must have changed the supplier or gone to a cheaply made version.

Yeah, mine made the clunk....and that's what's missing now...no clunk, ac led lights up, but no cold air....we'll see what it is...and yes, hopefully not the compressor.

Go to your dealer (sorry), they are the only way to tell if you need one of the modules reset (TIPM or BCM) or replaced...you may have a leak, the "manifold hose assy" is a common culprit, unfortunatley these hoses are on backorder, nationwide, and the dealers I've talked to have no info on when they will be available (probably this winter, ya know) the compressor clutch and/or switch commonly goes bad, you have to replace the whole compressor cause they don't make the parts seperate. these are just the probs I have personal experience with, sadly there are others. If you have time read over the posts, for ideas.
Get the diagnostic from the dealer tho, it may save you lots of time! then have whoever you will do the actual repairs.

GoodLuck....

Wonder if theres a way to retrofit a more reliable ac compressor and maybe if it would be a cheaper alternative for some???
