Re:6 disc changer is toast

I burn CDs so that I get about 18-20 songs per CD. My 6 disk changer had a problem the first week and would not play one of the CDs. I changed to another CD and it has worked ok since. So I guess time will tell.

But, it's better than Ford. On a recent road trip I tried playing my cds in two fords (2001, and 2002), a single disk changer and a 6 disk changer. Neither ford would play the burned CDs, and I've used them in several other car and home CD/DVD players w/o problems.

If I had to replace it, I'd look at one of those hard disk units that you can burn from your home computer.

What's all this CD talk?? Yank the silencer ring, and listen to the beautiful music of the Cummins. Or talk on the phone all the time like I do.. (Why is that guy waving at me??)
Seriously mine does not like burned CD's either. It seems to love RUSH and Van Halen tho.

See the music choice may be it. Mine loved playing Widespread Panic, but as soon as a friend put in a rap music cd, the player pooped out

I've had no problems with mine, always have 6 discs loaded in it, and several burned CD's with no problems. My sister hasn't had any problems with the one in her Liberty either.

Re:6 disc changer is toast

took it into the dealer - they ordered me a new one - should be here in a few days. Crossing my fingers for this one. The dealer said they can't get my 6 cds out though!! They claim chrysler will package and send them back to me though. Not holding my breath on that one! :

Re:6 disc changer is toast

Ask to see the removed changer and try to persuade it to let your CD's go.
A 30-40# persuader should take care of it.

Re:6 disc changer is toast

I asked them if we could take a hammer to it, or just try to take it apart or something to pop them out, he seemed VERY sure that chrysler would send my cd's back...we'll see...

Hope they have labels on them. Wouldn't wanna get arrested for burned ones and spend a night with Bubba..
Go to an independent audio shop and ask them to fish them out for you. Then let DC change it out for warranty. If they find one of your discs jammed it you probably will be footing the bill. FWIW

I have never seen any mention of the Infinity system being manufactured by Alpine until now. I have seen posts on this site that state the Infinity system is manufactured by Pioneer. Anyone know for sure? ???

Re:6 disc changer is toast

Infinity is part of Harmon International Industries. Trust me on this one. Alpine isn't part of them. As a design engineer of OEM audio amplifiers, I have to say the Infinity system is probably the most over-priced option on the vehicle.

Re:6 disc changer is toast

Well I'm glad the infinity came with the laramie package. I certainly wouldnt have paid anything extra for it.

Who cares who it's made by ? :-

I dont think I'll be taking the player anywhere to have them fished out, I'll just make sure the dealer makes every effort to try to get chrysler to send them back as he promised they would. Most of the burned cd's are live shows aside from the Audioslave disc I dont think the person at chrysler is really gonna care about copyright infringment tho

Re:6 disc changer is toast

You mean it's now standard on the Laramie package? They've finally decided that cassettes are going to be replaced by this newfangled contraption called a CeeDee player? Golly!

Who cares who it's made by ?
There's a world of differences in the transport mechanisms out there as welll as the D/A converters used. Harmon doesn't use their own transports (including us). They source them out to big transport houses (all offshore). So should you care? You bet. Can you do anything about it? Of course not! ;D

Re:6 disc changer is toast

Commatoze,
I'm with you on this one and do think it is important who manufactures the unit. Let's just say the single disc unit is manufactured by Harmon Industries, the six disc unit manufactured by Sparkomatic and you were aware of this. Which one would you choose?
