3rd gen SLT/Laramie package?

Guys help me out with some 3rd gen info.
I'm looking at a low mile 07 5.9/HO Auto, that is a big horn SLT. 2500
its a short bed with a cheap small lift with aftermarket 17" wheels. no frills basic power things inside.

The Dealership instinsts that this is a SLT/Laramie edition.

there is nothing Laramie about this truck. they do have it priced 6k more than what my bank says.
I have the Vin and I'm going to go to a diff Dodge dealership and have the build sheet done off the VIN.
So unless I'm missing something this is a standard SLT / big horn. just as the
tailgate says.

my 02 was a SLT/Laramie.
this was the stereo package with vinyl floors and no power seats.

I think the Laramies generally come with heated power leather. In 06/07 I think there was a Laramie and Laramie 2. One had both front seats 8 way power, power rear sliding seat, power adjust pedals,
Electric shift transfer case...

Mine has a strange option package. No badges at all. Power heated mirrors, cloth interior, mechanical seats, carpet, base stereo I think. No nav, but fm/am/cd with an aux port. Didn't have cab lights until I drilled the holes and added them. I've never really looked into it, but I don't think it's even an slt. Curious to know what the one you're looking at comes up as.

mechanical seats, basic cd player/stereo. cloth seats.
heated power mirrors. rear sliding manual window.
transfer case with lever on floor.

So I'm going there tomorrow since I'm off, if I have the energy. These 10 hour graveyard shifts at the hospital are getting to me these last few days.

it was funny also the sales guy (knows nothing on these trucks) kept trying to make a point and saying its a special 2UG SLT CUSTOMER PREFERRED .

He said it so much that i finally said to him do you know what the 2ug even means. I said all it means is that it was ordered with a diesel and not the 5.7 Hemi.
I think the Dealership likely put Laramie in the Title to catch more Eyes to it.
its a basic SLT short bed.
i will talk to my bank .
see what they say on what they are comfy with loaning. I have my 02 that
has alot of stuff and only 37k miles on complete rebuild. I know I would get crap for it on trade. I need to dump about 3500$ on my 02 soon for the nv5600 rebuild.

I'm only looking at Auto's due to the wife would like to drive atleast one of my trucks since she is short and doesn't like clutches. I told her that if I get a AUTO I will be spending $ to make it bomb proof. Green Light

My 05 is a SLT, it has power cloth driver seat, carpet, cab lights and a single color silver paint, no 2 tone. It is a 6sp with cruise control and came without a sliding rear window. Chrome wheels, not aluminum. Plain ole Dodge CD player.

Use this link from Dodge/Ram and add the VIN of the truck in question to end of the URL to list all the options.

As far as I know all Laramies got leather and power on both front seats. The Big Horn thing was just a package added to a SLT. It usually included things like fog lamps, trailer tow package, folding flat floor in rear, anti spin diff, fold a way mirrors tow hooks and sliding rear window to name a few.

Basically, if it's an ST it will have rubber floors, manual seats and may or may not have power windows, locks etc.
SLT, pretty much what you have. Few options pkgs like Thunder road, Big Horn, etc.
Laramie= Leather plus more power goodies. Also Laramie front bumpers are different. If it doesn't have body color end caps, chrome in the middle, it's not a Laramie.
Really doesn't matter much for resale on a truck this old. Price is predicated much more on miles/condition than particular options.
Dealer is probably hanging his hat on it being the last of the 5.9 trucks and inflating the price. Some people/dealers have these trucks priced stupid high for this reason alone. If I believed everything I've seen, I could legitimately say my 07 Mega 6 speed with 130kmi is still worth almost $30k!
BTW, it's a nice truck, but anyone who would give me $29k for it could have it today! Seriously.

The 2012 you're looking at is basically a 5.9 since it's deleted. Chassis is the same essentially as a 3rd Gen, with new body and interior.
I'd go for a deleted 2012 all day over an 07 auto trans truck. Besides, the price of the programmer and delete kits have gone through the roof since the EPA busted all the aftermarket programmer companies. Just the delete would cost you about $2k today.
If you can't get the OE exhaust with the truck, it will be spendy of you have to put it back to stock, but if you don't anticipate ever having to smog the truck its the way to go.

well I chose to go and look at the 12 and it was a waste of 1/2 a day. I was ****** enough i made a scene in the dealerships nice big sales and service area that had a lot of people.

first off there were no pictures taken of the underneath of the truck. second what i was told was a tool/box fuel tank was just a cheap tool box with a generic steel square box no mounted with a generic drain valve off the side. you can tell the fuel tank has slid around during hard stops and even smashed into the tool box at least one time.
the underside was 80% rust. seemed to be used in the Oregon mountains with the pumice on the road. then the lift kit was mickey moused with a spacer system and due to the big tires and wheels the PO cut a huge portion of the inner fender metal which was rusted. and they said to me if you would like to drive it the clutch is bad so watch out.

So the PO likely ran the mini max on to high of settings.
so if he torched the clutch and couldn't take care of the undercarrage who knows what the pistons or what life the head has.
So i made sure that everyone knew how EDIT it was to discuss this vehicle with me over the phone and not tell me these things and i drive 2 hours to come and see this pile of crap. I also reminded them that the vehicle is illegal in its current status and good luck selling it to anyone in its current city due the DEQ/Smog that is required.

Snakes all of them.

Aw man, that sucks! Sorry that didn't pan out. Good thing you know what to look for though. Hopefully someone less knowledgeable doesn't pick it up and get hosed.

Well that sucks!
It ain't easy finding a good diesel for a fair price. I'd still shy away from the 4 speed autos if you do any real towing. I just hate the gear splits with only 4 cogs.
Shopping 3rd gen trucks I'd only be looking a manual trans or 08-up with the 68rfe auto.

^^ Ditto that on the 4 speed auto. I'd look for a stick shift if going 5.9.
