2500 QC 4x4 Laramie Price

Please take a look at the attached order build sheet. Based on the FWP (??) price of 40,351, what do you think would be a good price to start with before considering tax, title, tax and rebates?

Obviously my dealer said they would sell it to me for $40,351 minus the rebate option I choose (likely $2,000 and 0% financing). Based on what I've read, they should be willing to do better than that.

I'm loyal to my sales guy as I bought my Durango from him in 1999. I don't mind him making some lunch money on the deal, maybe Arby's or possibly Golden Corral.

Whatcha think?

Thanks,
David

I can go ahead and tell you that the price next to the EP is the Employee Price for employees of DaimlerChrylser or their immediate family. That is supposed to be less than the dealer pays for the vehicle. Just an FYI.

What is FWP?? Is that invoice?

Gary C 01-11-2004 08:14 AM

I got the Ep price(4-5% back of invoice) and rebate, sticker 43K bought for 34K, I sold the Hummer and got a real truck again,,,,,,,,I am so much happier........:D

If I am reading this correctly, your saying that $40,351 is the MSRP. I wouldn't even talk to them unless they were willing to start at $35K, then deduct all available incentives from that figure.

THere are plenty of websites where you can figure out the dealer invoice.

Just a suggestion.

dcorneli 01-11-2004 11:09 AM

Nope, MSRP is 45,055. $40,351 should be invoice if they're telling the truth.

Not sure if a newbie can be of any help but, It took me about 6 dealerships in Phx and I ended up paying what edmunds says is invoice pricing. Not the TMV price. then I took my 2.5K rebate.
Maybe I got hosed but as soon as I got the unit off the lot, the price I paid was the last thing on my mind. This 04 CTD is AWESOME. :D :D :D

According to my calcs, the EP appears to be invoice minus holdback.

LinearX 01-11-2004 01:51 PM

I don't how this dealer does his pricing, but I'm friends with local dealer, and when I ordered mine I sat there and we picked out every feature I wanted. He had nothing to do with putting any prices in. After we selected everything, the prices were on the screen and he had no way of modifying them. He then printed it out for me and the prices matched.

I'm not sure if the dealers can modify the prices before they print that sheet. If they can, I'd say beware. If not, then those are the real prices that it will cost them to get the vehicle, etc.

FWP= invoice. A good deal is invoice minus rebates/incentives. Many people who don't pay attention to these forums etc pay a few hundred over invoice and think they're getting a good deal. I thought I got a great deal at invoice minus 1/2 the holdback minus incentives. IMO, once you hit invoice price minus incentives, you've got a good deal though. Steve white in Hickory, NC is who gave me the invoice minus half the hold back minus incentives. They were upfront and honest, with no weird/hidden charges.

dcorneli 01-11-2004 05:41 PM

Lightman, did you then have to add taxes, title, tags, etc? Or, what that price out the door?

Lightman 01-11-2004 07:49 PM

My truck was similar to yours, about 40K FWP. I got half the hold back which was about $630 off that, then the $2500 rebate and the $500 farm burea rebate as well, for $3630 under FWP, plus tax and tag. I ended up writing a check for $39K even , for my 04 laramie with basically everything I could get on it...

dcorneli 01-11-2004 08:49 PM

Thanks Lightman. I think half the holdback sound fair. I might shoot for just a tad more off than that, hoping they'll counter to half.

Where can I go to find out about joining the Farm Bureau for the $500 rebate?

Thanks,
David

Invoice and half the holdback is certainly fair. The numbers on your sheet look right. You mentioned a $2000 rebate and 0% financing. I bought my 04 2500 on Dec. 14 and took delivery on Dec 17. Since it had to come from another dealer I lost the holdback. As I recall, the rebate was $2500 OR 0% financing, not both. Are you sure they are offering both?I ended up paying invoice less the $2500 rebate, plus another $300 rebate for owning a business and $500 holiday cash back (total:$3300) since I took delivery on the 17th (the program started on the 16th) Good luck and hang tough, the trtuck wars are on and everybody is dealing!:D

I have a 2004.5 that was just built on 1/08. MSRP was 44,102 invoice was 39,000 with the 2500 rebate I,m paying 35,788. I ordered it from out of state andI'm going to fly and get it. I ordered it from Lou Fusz Dodge in St Louis Missouri. Ask for Tom Chaney know as Tommeygun on the TDR. He'll treat you right. He's helped out alot of People on the TDR just do a search by his name on there.
