2006 Mega Cab Brake Hose Problem
I got some new wheels for my 2006 Ram 2500 MegaCab 2wd with Diesel and was installing them today when I was greeted with this:
http://photos.samanthawhitworth.com/...1/DSC00453.JPG This is the right side. The left side also has a small bubble but no seepage. Brakes operate fine with firm pedal. Truck has 38,1xx miles. Having no extended warranty, and not really wanting to spend any time at the dealership, I figured I would grab some hoses from the parts store and swap them out today while it was kind of warm out. As far as I can tell, there are no aftermarket replacement hoses for it including stainless pre made ones. I looked them up on some dealer parts website and they are only about $40-$50 each, so I find a local dealer open on Saturday. No luck, they didn't have either hose. So I asked him to check other dealers. Left side is on Nationwide b/o with no expected by date, right side is also on back order but might be available in a week or two. Doing some searching here, I don't see mention of this problem with any other trucks. So, I have several questions on the subject, not all related and maybe not answerable by the same people.... -Anyone here work for Dodge or a dealer and can get better info on the parts? -Any chance in hell getting this covered under warranty (3-36)? -Any idea if any other year trucks might have the same hose? -Any idea where to find the information to build my own via adapters and standard -3 braided hoses? -Are there any issues with bleeding an ABS system after changing a hose? I guess I caused all this trouble. Just this week I made the decision to buy the truck at the end of the lease in May and I must have jinxed it. The very occasional unknown fluid leak started getting worse too, but that was just a very common loose clamps on a coolant hose. Thanks in advance for ANY info. I parked the truck until I can fix the hoses. DaveW |
Man that sucks. Sorry to see that and I will not be much help except to say I am pretty sure the lines will be the same from 2003 -2007.

Looks like Russell makes a kit that is only on backorder for 2 weeks....:)
No one shows aftermarket hoses for any year between 03-07. :( DaveW |

A lot of hose shops can build you what you need, SS or rubber they should have all of the ends that is needed.
The SS Hoses will give you a firmer brake pedal. Some of the bigger parts store can build hoses as well. Do a goggle on custom built brake hoses.. |
MoparOne is just another Dodge dealer. Left side was "released" by Chrysler on Dec 1 and they do not know when it will be available, could be 2 days or 2 weeks or longer. RIght side hasn't been released yet, no help on timing there.
I have plenty of places in town that can build the hoses, but my preference would be to not have the truck down and apart for several days while I chase parts. It would be much easier to just do the parts swap, bleed the brakes and go... So, I'm really trying to find something premade. I am not even going to deal with the dealership. If the parts aren't available, it won't matter if they are willing to goodwill the warranty coverage or not. Thanks! DaveW |
