2006 CTD Question

I am going to pick up my first CTD next week, found a clean low mileage 2500 4X4 never been off road never out of Fl. I have been lurking here gathering info for several weeks, Great source for loads of info BTW. My question is it possible to convert to Daytime headlights, I am changing from a chevy and love that feature, I know that some countries have that requirement and maybe there is a relay/controler etc... to plug and play.

thanks, Mike

could be as simple as changing the country code to Canada.

Dealer can do it, yes. Some will give you a line of crap though. I'm not sure what he configured in the star scan, but he got 'er done. They only come on while in gear w/ the park brake released.

You will have to pay the dealer to do it. I paid $40 to turn mine on because I did not buy it at my local dealer. While they are in the TIPM I would have them turn on the Key-Off Power feature (allows you to still operate windows and listen to the radio for a pre-determined time or until you open a door), and have them increase the time your dome lights stay on. Another great feature is to have them turn on the high idle feature, which will work right away if you are getting an automatic tranny. If not there is a easy pigtail wire to ground out the PTO (available thru Cummins) to get it to work on a manual. If you are buying the truck used from a Dodge dealer I would tell them you want those "customer preferences" done before you take delivery of the truck and then they won't charge you for something that should have been set at the factory. Good luck with the new truck.

I don't know if this is a problem for you, but daytime lamps mess up your clear lens in a real hurry from the extended heat.

Thanks

Thanks for the help, I have a previous employee that is a tech at the Dodge dealer that will help with these, as far as the clear lenses/heat issue I am more worried about the blue hair drivers pulling out in front of me.

Is there a way to turn them on w/o going to the dealer?

I think the smarty tuner allows you to enable/disable a lot of the power options the dealer tries the charge you for.

I don't think that would be a problem in terms of heat buildup. That would be a design flaw because the regular headlight shine brighter and put out way more heat and that is not a problem.

Yah, the Smarty or a Bully Dog Triple Dog will allow you to get in to make the changes.
