2003 Body Rot Problems!

I have noticed a lot of 2003 Dodge trucks rotting at the rear fenders my truck included. I think dodge has issues with this. Its bubbling from under the paint and its not at the edge either its like 2" above the wheel fender.

I think thats true of any Dodge or Chevy

I was just under mine at the rear finder today and it still looks like new. Sorry yours is rotting.

Mine has a fuel tank leak that is coming from the aux fitting on the fuel tank module. The seal has come apart. I think this is a safety issue that Dodge should fix.

I was trying to remove the spring clamp on the fitting to make a new seal. I will have to drop the tank to get to it. To much to remove to lift the bed.

Probably a road salt issue. My 99 and this 04 is still like brand new.

I work as a auto body tech and the problem with these dodges is that there is foam that is put in there from factory to help quiet the vibrations of the box side. That foam holds moisture and salt causing the box to rust from the inside out. The only true way out is to have your favorite body shop put on new box sides if you are willing to pay 4 grand to have it done. Make sure they do not put any foam back in and you will be good forever!

My 04.5 is rotting on the RR fender well, and the tailgate is getting blisters on the bottom. I think it's BS.

cut out the rot, seal it up properly and go buy a $300 pair of power wagon flares to cover up the repair...

cjones42 11-06-2011 08:25 PM

I agree the fix is fender flares but they need to go up high above the wheel. Like 4" . I have a phone number to call if you woukd like to tell dodge there is an issue. The more people call the better. If we ever get power back I will post the phone number.
