2003 4WD

Dodge is in the process of buying my 03 QC 2WD because of paint problems with the Almond Pearl coat paint. They have been very fair to this point, so I've decided to order a 03 SLT ;DQC 2500 4WD, HO 6 speed. The dealer has quoted a price of $35,321 for this truck minus the $2000 rebate. Does this sound fair? What kind of fuel mileage should I expect from this truck with 3:73 gears?

Re:2003 4WD

Check the invoice on kbb.com and/or edmunds.com. You should be paying pretty close to invoice - maybe even a little under. PLUS you get the rebates.

Re:2003 4WD

After 3800 miles I'm averaging 17.5 mpg with a 48RE. 90% of my driving is open highway.

Re:2003 4WD

Mr. Jimmy,
After 10,000 miles I have an overall average of 18.0 mpg witch includes 60% highway and maybe 5% towing. Because of the variation in filling the tank, I also keep track of the average of the last three tanks. That is currently running 18.8 mpg. I believe the 4WD will get maybe 1.0 to 1.5 lower than your 2WD because the front axle is always turning.
I agree with joel, you should get right at invoice. You might consider Luke S. who is an advertizer on this board. See what kind of a deal he can give you.

The Boss Hog
(somebody please turn on the a/c!)

Re:2003 4WD

MrJ, you did not say which 2500 you were quoted on or what options you had ordered so it is hard to say if the price us fair.My truck is the SLT 4X4 with the following options:
HO and six speed
Premium cloth seats
8 way power drivers seat
Under seat storage front and rear
Folding flat floor
Trailer tow group
Three sizes of trailer *****
Two balldrop adaptors
3.73 rear end
Tow mirrors
Keyless entry
Bodyside moulding
Leather steering wheel
Rear slider
Locking fuel cap
Spare tire lock
Wheel locks
Dodge service manual
Immobilizer
Nerf bars
Mating trailer plug
Rhino liner
Full tank of diesel

Out the door with licence, taxes etc was $33,286.15. Of course I still had to go and pick it up but for me even including the airfare to get there and the time to drive back was worth it.
Now, do you still think you are getting a good deal? I think I got a great deal but others may have an even better deal.
Re:2003 4WD

Mr. Jimmy, I'm averaging 17 running empty with my dually, which I consider pretty good (see my sig). I got the truck at $500 over invoice, which I considered a reasonable deal (not the best, but saved a lot of shopping around time that made up for the $500 anyway), and paid $33,479.00 after rebates. I added the nerf bars, Line-x, and guages aftermarket. Like Boss Hog said, check with Luke S to see if he can make it worth your while to buy from him. I would consider your realtionship with your current dealer, as he may be the one you will go to for service, and if his deal is close it might be better to just buy from him. Do your research using kbb.com, consider your dealer relationship, talk to Luke, then make an informed decision. HTH

The price I quoted is before the $2000 Dodge rebate and $500 Farm Bureau rebate

Re:2003 4WD

Forgot to mention, the only thing I regreted not getting from the dealer was mud flaps. My nerf bars and surrounding area was constantly dirty. My dealer was good enough to give me the Mopar mud flaps later at cost.

Re:2003 4WD

Almond pearl coat paint, bed does not match cab.$3500 for repaint, I guess they feel it is more cost effective for Dodge to do a buy back, which is agreeable with me as I didn't want a new truck that has been repainted.
