The '04 HO is a great engine! No cat, no third injection, better mileage. If you are unsure check the engine tag on the valve cover, engine side. '04 is 305/555, or just look under for the cat. '04.5 was sold starting Jan 1, 04.

The 305 /555 HO was available with the 48re Auto starting in '03.5 (build date 1 Jan 2003) in '04 they were all HO's (no more SO's) until Jan. 1, 2004 then ALL were 325/ 600's

'03 Ho

I love my CTD, even if it is in the shop awaiting a new #1 injector. It went out at 97k miles. Original lift pump tested out fine too.

It means you have potential still. 305 horses, 555 foot pounds of torque.

Oh, and welcome to wonderful world of CTDs.

Having an 04.5 is NOT a bad thing. It is a GREAT thing. They are all great motors. Yours actually has more power (while stock) than the 03 and 04 engines. The 04.5 on up trucks sometimes don't get quite as good fuel mileage, but if you are getting great mileage then you have no complaints and no problems.

Sounds like you got yourself a great truck! Just keep reading on here and you will become very educated on your truck and it's engine. Welcome aboard.

i have an 05 2500. My friend and her husband have an 03 3500 dually quad that they pull a three hoarse gooseneck with 12 feet of living quarters with, and with the fresh water tanks full. They get great milage when towing. They think it is fine with power, but I notice the lag in thier cruise control when following them in the rolling hills.
