2001 Electrical Issue

Having an odd electrical issue on 2001 2500 4x4.

Multiple fuses blown. ASD relay was buzzing (replaced it). Alternator tests good. Batteries test good. Batteries not holding a charge more than a few hours. Any ideas?

first test your batteries .... if they're good start looking for a short ....

Batteries

Batteries both test good on load tester. Both are 1 year old interstate batteries.

Um, okay. WHICH ONES?

Are they blowing again after being replaced?

I would check several things. You say the alternator tests good. It may put out voltage on a test but if the diodes are bad or have an issue it will charge but discharge when the truck is sitting and will sap the batteries in no time at all. I would double check the alt. You could simply unhook it and see if your batteries stay up. It may be good and you have a short else where.

On the fuse issue.............you seem to have a short somewhere. If multiple fuses are blown I would check to see if they all share something in common. Has there been any recent work on the truck that could lead you to a suspect area. Otherwise you need to check each circuit of the blown fuse to see where its shorting which is causing your blown fuse an or the current drain of your batteries.

Start tracing your wires on the circuit thats blowing the fuse....Maybe you should take it into a shop where theres a tech that can do this ,,,, Electrical is nothing to fool with ,,,
