1st diesel, 1st post, ever notice...
I've been perusing this site for the past few years and I finally broke down and bought the mighty Cummins. I had a '00 Dakota with the 4.7 that I traded - gonna have to change my i.d.. I still had plenty of equity in it and the deals on the Rams (trucks in general) are amazing right now - couldn't pass it up. Plus I wanted to avoid the new emission regulations for '07. This also is my 1st post (I think -o.k. maybe it's my 8th post - go figure), so I'll try to participate a little more. I've go the diesel bug now and there's no turning back!
p.s., I have you noticed that when you drive a gasser, then turn it off, it doesn't shimmy, and then you think for just a moment something's wrong with it? I thought my dad's Lexus was broken the other day until I realized it was just a gasser - guess a few weeks in a diesel reprograms your brain.

red 47,
I have noticed in the colder months when I get into a gas vehicle I turn the key on and look for the Glow Plug/ Pre-warmer grid light and wait for that to go off. After I cannot find it I remeber oh yea I am not in a diesel.
Good Luck

I drove a friend's gasser recently and almost killed it every time I pulled away from a stop. I'm so used to my truck and my wife's VW that I expected to be able to let out the clutch without touching the accelerator.
And every time I drive a gasser now I do the waiting-for-the-glow-plug thing (though our trucks don't have them, they still have the wait, and the VW has them).

Thanks for all the kind words. About the glow plugs (heating grid), before I read the manual I was waiting for the security light to go off - thinking it was the wait to start light! Now that I know what to look for, I've noticed the light doesn't even come on in these warmer temps. These newer diesels are great! - not that I have any real experience with older diesels. Now, if I could only get B20 in Tulsa.
