07 diesels

I was reading the latest issue of 24/7 towing magazine. In it they said that the 07 diesels are going to change alot with the 07 emissions. Here are some of the things they would happen to 07 trucks. Manufactures will have to produce diesel engines with lower and almost no emissions, therefor causing a drop in fuel economy by atleast 1-2 %. They said with all added technology and filtering to reduce emissions would raise the cost of the vehicle between $3000.00 - $10000.00. Maint. cost would for sure rise. The one thing that they were unsure about was how often oil changes would be needed. The after market tuners are going to have a much harder time figuring out the 07's. With all this said. If you are thinking about bying a new truck. I would get an 06 instead of waiting. I know dodge will add six speed auto trans. or something to spice up the 07. But with all the added costs involved,2% less fuel economy. The 06 lookes to be the way to go.

I thought diesel was always cleaner than gas anyway.
How come the epa is picking on us?
I honestly thought a diesel was better for the environment, less refining, better burn, more mpg.
Between this and the high price of diesel and these regulations, I dunno.
I'm sure we'll need diesels smogged next, here in California.

Generally, diesel is cleaner than gas as well as more efficient... it's just that all the environmentalists have their heads in the clouds (generally speaking) and seem to think that regulating diesels (read class 6,7,8 trucks) will "save the world"... because the picture in everyone's head is a diesel throwing tons of black smoke and polluting/"ruining" the environment...which is wrong. instead, they are driving up costs and not fixing the problem by improving all motor vehicle emissions and pursuing alternative fuel sources (biodiesel, etc). I'm sure the agriculture industry in the USA could handle less subsidies by producing many of the necessary products to create/refine biodiesel

That is the exact reason I ordered an 06. They have plenty of power now, and the fuel mileage is only going to go down with more emissions stuff. Scotty
