'06 mileage & Mud Story

Hand calc 14.25 MPG at 70-75 MPH in rolling hill terrain. State hiways, small town streets and backroad driving. 8000 miles on the truck.
Now about them backroads, I was cruisin' along looking for a cell tower site when I came up to a road closed sign. It kinda looked like a cobbed together sign and I couldn't see anything going on for over a half a mile in front of me. So I thought how closed could it really be, and I really wasn't in any kind of hurry. So I just zipped on by that sign. The county boys were replacing a drain tile at the other end of that country block. I rolled up on them pretty quick downshifting to third and slippin' it into 4hi. I slipped down into that wet plowed but not planted corn field at a little over 10 MPH. At about 25 yards or so I glanced over to the trench they had cut in the road and saw 4 or 5 haeds popping up with that this is gonna be funny look on their faces and then I started to lose momentem. I was thinkin' this ain't gonna be fun takin' all the crap these guys were gonna give me if they have to drag me out. Well I just kept kept her steady and let her eat. She crawled on thru the last 25 or 30 yards. When I got to the point I knew it was going to make it out I thought I really shouldn't let them boys down and give 'em somthing to laugh about. So when I came out of the feild at the intersection I flipped her back into 2hi and cut the mud slinginest doughnut you ever seen, hit 4th and kept on going. It was great!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was amazed that I got out of the desert, when it started raining really heavy. The roads just dissolve into very slick mud, but just 4 hi got me 10 miles out, and home.. and that is with a dually.
The truck was kind of dirty after it - cost over $20 to get it clean.
