06 making whistle/hissing sound

my 06 with 19k just recently (last couple of days with temps in the 30's for highs) has been making a weird whistle/hissing sound whenever you step on it. Sounds like it is related to the turbo to me cuz it only seems to do it once the boost reachs 12-13+ psi, not sure though. Truck has never done this before, and has me worried, anyone thoughts, ideas? Maybe a loose clamp on turbo hose?? If it's not one thing it is ten others with this truck. Thanks in advance for any help.

check for a loose clamp and an ic boot that has slipped. did you take a bird hit in the front or anything that could have damaged the cooler?

Mine has just started doing this as well. It seems to coincide with the turbo spooling up, but is not as high pitched as the turbo. I checked all of my hoses & clamps...no problems found. I need to get my truck to the shop for other warranty issues. Post up if you get it fixed before I do

Mine has had a whistle noise from day one at about 15-20 mph on the windshield. Is it actually a wind whistle or is it a turbo noise? Just a thought, I thought mine was a turbo noise at first.

Mine is most definatly engine related. I can bring the rpms up to about 1500, in neutral, and you can hear it. You can hear the high pitched whine of the turbo and this secondary whine which is not as high pitched, but sounds like it is about the same speed.

Mine hisses, but it is NOT engine related, sounds like the passenger side mirror or in that general area.

I would check the clamps too, other than that enjoy the noises!

I believe you are talking about the same problem I tried to get an answer to when I first got my truck. No one replied to the thread, so I just let it go.

Mine only appears as temps start to cool down below 45 or so. It also disappears after the truck warms up.

If it only does it whenit is Cold then it may be turbo bearing issues??? I know this---------My SRT4's all would be louder in the Winter as far as Turbo Whistle when I was getting on it through the Intake. I dont know if the Filter gets harder/rigid in colder temps that would cause the air that is rushing over it to be like a blade of grass in your palm that is stretched. When you blow over it it whistles. If it is not tight then you get nothing?????????? Something to look into! Also if you have done anything to the intake in the past hundred miles or so check that!

Question

The boost levels that you are describing are the same boost levels that the whining would start at on the SRT's. Our Trucks are no different! I'm now curiouse as to what you have done to the intake if anything??????

My truck has the S & B cold air intake on it. I thought it was the problem, so I took it off & reinstalled the stock intake. The turbo whine was greatly reduce(obviously) but that secondary whine is the same. We may not have the same problems, but I thought it was curious that mine started doing it when it started to cool off outside. Also, my noise does not go away as the truck warms up.

This can be just a change in the density of the air as it get colder. You may also be able to hear better.

After watching this again, I also have the noise you are speaking of. It seems to me to be a secondary harmonic, lower in pitch relative to the initial turbo whine, only once it reaches a certain boost level, and under fairly aggressive roll into the skinny pedal.
The truck didn't do this in the summer when I bought it. It did appear in colder weather. It is not related to intake swaps as my new intake was on for months before this noise appeared. It doesn't go away once truck reaches op temps. I don't think it's bad but if so, that's what the warranty is for......

Mine has gone away the last couple of days as the temps here have warmed up back into the 50 instead of the 20-30's, mine is definately temp dependent. As far as the intake goes nothing done to it, new air filter about 1k ago, but didn't make the noise right after it was replaced?? I am sure it will come back as it gets colder again, i am stumped.
