'06 Aux. Back-Up Lights

Okay so I know this question has been asked a million times. I have searched and read many of the past threads and none of them really answered my ? . I want to add some lights to the rear, and front eventually too. I need to know where I should add the relay. To the 7 pin plug or can I add it to the switch in the cab for the running lights. I want to be able to turn the lights on when not in reverse, but at the same time I don't want them to be on when the truck is off (just in case). Any diagrams would be awsome. Thanks for the help guys.

I have the PIAA backup lights installed but I did not hook up the wire that makes them go on when tranny is in reverse.

I'd love to know where I can tap into that wire somewhere in the dash area.

This is what I did for $20. Wired them straight to the battery and put the switch where the adjustable pedal switch would be if I had them.

Me, I'd create my own circuit for the lights. I'd tap into an underhood battery source, like the stud on the PDC, run a fused line to the relay, mount the relay either underhood or underdash, use a lighted switch to control the relay at key-on only, and run the output wire to the rear of the truck.

Here's a schematic if you want to wire it to a three way switch so they'll come on automatically with the reverse lights, come on manually, or stay off all the time:

Can I run the relay to any circuit? I would like to attach it to one of the wires for the parking lamps so that I can turn my lights on any time that the parking lamps are on, and won't stay on once I turn off the truck.

How about tapping into the 7 pin loom for the trailer? You can get both a power signal from the back up and the constant hot from there. At the same time, get your truck flashed for the TSB about the trailer circuit problem.
