Question 06 2500 Daytime Running Lights U.S. import?

Hi, I've just bought a 06 2500 quad cab from the U.S. and will be bringing it into Canada. The laws in Canada require the DRL to work. I was told that it is just a simple option setting with the computer. I thought I would maybe just get it done at a dodge dealer close to the Canadian boarder because they move a lot of trucks into Canada. I phoned on dealer on the U.S. side and asked them if he could do it. He told me yes but the truck has to have the proper module in it. Its not just a computer setting. I already bought the truck and am going to pick it up in a few weeks. He told me if the truck doesn't have the proper module in it. I would have to get it done in Canada, and I'm guessing with a big price tag. Has anyone incountered this before. I'm kind of stressed out because I was lead to believe it was just a programing change and not parts to be added in. It seems like the 06 and newer have a different computer in them, from what I seen on the forums. Can someone please help me clear this up before I get the truck. I worried about a big bill attached to it, to get the DRL turn on to meet Canadian laws. Thanks for any help.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I have been trying to get my dtl turned off but have been having no luck. These trucks run on a can-bus system, if I wanted to get my lights turned off i would have to have the country code changed to us then I could change the options like drl and fogs on with brights , for you to get them turned on all they would have to do is turn them on with star scan, thats what I have read here with some Americans who wanted them on for safety, worst case they should be able to switch you to the cdn country code then they will be on for sure
but they (my dealer) are not too excited to change codes because of warranty work I hope this was some what helpful and not just a

I had the DRL's turned off on my truck, A USA truck can have them turned on or off without changing the country code, it takes about 5 min for the dealer to enable or disable.

I tried with mine as well. Same reason from the tech that it couldn't be done - not without change of country code.
