not siding with a dealer here but ive wondered myself never got to asking

Since I hear there is a lift pump in the tank now, Could there be one?

I know i had this problem with the old gasser. And the only way i could ever find it was a new pump and filter. ( the in tank ones) Just wondering if this could be the same way?

Just remember that IF you drain the fuel filter first, before installing the new filter, you may have to crank the engine over a bit more the usual to fill the filter basket back up. Then the engine will fire right up.

I had my Dodge dealer try to sell me a filter for $35. Bought one from the International dealer for $11. Same Fleetguard filter.

Sometimes you just have to go HUMMMMMMMM.

Bought filter at 5* for $32.00; wanted $38.00 to install. I knew labor was a rip, but didn't realize filter was too. Thanks for info.

Not to add insult to injury here, but even on a gasser the in tank filter should last around 100K, unless you get a lot of cheapo gas. I would be suprised if his 04.5 had any where near that kind of milage.

I have not seen an exapmle of the in tank pusher pump on the 04.5, but you would think the filter would be more of a screen to collect large particals, so you would not need to change that one very often JMO.
