unplugged egr wow
I unpluged my egr last weekend and the truck runs much better. Yea I'm getting codes from it but the lie O meter went from 23 mpg (really 20 mpg) to 28 mpg. Ill need to do it on paper to get it exact. but it runs much better. as far as the P filter, most of my drive to work and back is 60 mph so that should keep it clean.
I never could understand why you would want to dump soot into your intake...might as well dump ajax in it.....
It does act a bit different, turbo winds up faster, sounds more like an 07 5.7 and seems to run smoother...
It does , sometimes, have a weird idle at start up for a few seconds, up and down for a few secounds ...ill keep you all informed...

I find I have less frequent but longer duration active regens. Probably due to the colder exhaust temps and trying to maintain over 1k degrees for regen.
Much less frequent active regens when towing is a plus.
Weird idle at start up is the tcv closing off to suck more egr gas into the intake. It can't do it so it sags alittle when it closes.

Thanks xcc_rider, I was curious about about the idle but it's like it tries 3 times in about 10 seconds and then its fine...Lie O meter is staying around 26 mpg , Like I said it was saying 23 and I was getting 20mpg so Ill do the math next monday when I fill her up again but looks like maybe 22-23 mpg ...

I haven't had the opportunity to do an unloaded road trip after unplugging until last week. All the trips have been towing 8k and climbing a mountain.
Good news is that I've gone from a historical best of 17.8 mpg to 19.3 mpg unloaded at 65 - 70 mph on open highway. It hasn't helped with the 10.8 mpg towing mileage but that's probably due to my (I hate being in clogged traffic or behind slow RV's/18 wheelers) driving style.
Now on to deletes and even better mpg's.

"California Style"
Cool. I got about the same bests as you did before unplugging or the deletes. After the deletes (I only have the minimal) I saw the same improvements and yes, my towing style is the same as yours and any improvement there has been minimal... I'm still breaking in my truck though at only 20K miles so far, lol.
