'New to me' 2008 2500 6.7!

Hey everyone! Glad to be here! Quick background, went truck shopping in 07 and ended up getting a Hemi, great truck, not what I wanted. Fast forward to last week and my wife decided we 'needed' a truck we could pull a 5th wheel with. Happy to oblige. We found our truck sitting at the dealership down the street and picked it up with 60,000 miles. No mods, completely stock except for the tires and fender flairs. Had the truck at the house for 18 hours before I did the EGR disable. Working on the delete later. Anyways, I had a couple of questions that have been answered on here, sortof... Two of them really I guess.
First one, Exactly how loud is straight 5" exhaust. I am alright with volume, just not so much a drone when I am driving down the freeway. Would I be upset with this?
Secondly, I am used to having a limit, but so far I haven't seen a "limit" as far as EGT's are concerned. I was watching some videos on YouTube where some people ran theirs up over 1600 for a short time. Not sure if that is alot. So, with the DPF deleted and a straight through exhaust, what... ish, limit would I not want to exceed?
Thanks in advance and pretty excited to be here!

Welcome to the DTR!

Glad you like your 6.7 so far.

I cant comment on the 5" but there are guys here who can.

Now for the EGT's I dont like to see more than 1300 at anytime. While towing I would try to maintain lower than 1200 degrees.

A quick blast of 1400 or higher at WOT is not uncommon with my truck but I try to hold that to just a few seconds.

Some will say that the 6.7 can handle higher temps, but aluminum is aluminum and it will melt regardless of which engine its on.

x2 what blake said.. These new engines staight piped aint loud at period when compared to the 5.9s but alot of it is the turbos fault which mine will prolly be changed out here soon...I think that the 5'' exhaust is kinda quite, not loud at all and has alil bit of the drone noise imo!!!! but to me it doesnt matter. i think i should have went with the 4'' turbo back tho..

Word. Yeah, the drone is what I wasn't wanting. I don't mind a rumble, or a little bit of sound, I just don't want to lose my mind or feel numb after my upcoming 3k Christmas exodus cruise. The main reason I was looking at the 5" was because people say it took the sound and just made it lower and got rid of the drone, but that could have been for the 5.9. If a 4" w/ muffler will net me the same, I'll roll with that. I guess next question is should I run it sans muffler? Anyways, thanks for the welcome.

the 5'' does make the nice deep sound and stuff.. i should experiment tho with a 6''tip and that just might help..
