Try again. Don't know what a thread is or a tag. I have a lot of questions as I am a new diesel owner. Just purchased a Brand new 2007 Quad Cab 4x4 with the 6.7, 6spd Auto. By new I mean it only had 845-miles on her. Called the local Dodge dealer and had all updates performed. I have read about some of the short comings of the 6.7, manly concering with the DPF and EGR systems. I will hit submit again and if it works this time I will post my questions then. Tag must be my user name?

Welcome to the Diesel Truck Resource!

How on Earth did you find an 07 with only 845 miles on it. Thats crazy! Has to be the lowest milage 3rd Gen 6.7 on the forum.

Now as far as tags, they are key words that you can enter to aid in the search for thread topics. A thread is this here topic of conversation you just started.

A tag would be words such as: new; diesel owner; low milage; DPF; or EGR

They 6.7 has worked out to be pretty reliable with a lil bit of tweaking if needed.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

fill out your "ucer cp" so we can tell where you live.

congratulations on the new 2007

the short comings are all dodge add ons to the cummins motor

they can also be removed or "deleted" for as little as 700$ (w/programmer)

The guy I bought the truck from actually bought two trucks identical in every way except for one. One had a hemi and one was a diesel. Since it was going to be her truck and they couldn't agree, he purchased both. It had never even been wet until the day after I bought it.

Gas milage and reliablity

First diesel I've ever owned. I've modified many gas vehicles but never a diesel. This is why I came here. Any mods I do is first for reliability and milage then maybe for performance later. After some research the only problem with the 6.7 seems to be the DPF and EGR systems. My buddy has the 5.9 and gets 20mpg while I'm getting 14.5 at best. I realize my truck still has to break in but it doesn't sound like it well do much better then that, from what I;ve read. By by-passing the DPF and EGR systems with an H&S Maxx programmer this is said to fix these problems. I also understand there are sooting issues with the Turbo. If I just use the EGR block of kit will that solve that problem? What I would like to know, are these Mods healthy and good for my engine? Longevity and reliability are more important to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to learning all I can from people who know diesel's. My buddy was right. Back in 2001 I bought a new 1/2 ton quad cab 4x4 with the 5.9 gas and loved it. I do alot of off road riding, quads, but could never pull much with it. Now I looking at toy trailors. My half ton was totaled X-mas night with only 51k on it. Once you go diesel, you never go back!

fortunately, reliability, mpg and performance all come at the same time "DELETE"

no ill effects, it keeps the soot out of the motor, which adds longevity, you get 1-5mpg improvement with the tuner, and you get some horsepower and torque to boot.
