I have a 2007 Ram Quad-Cab 6.7 Turbo-Diesel. I wanted to put dual-exhaust to increase performance and sound but the Ram has 3 components of the exhaust system (2 converter type filters and then a small muffler).

Can someone tell me what the 2 converters do (laymens terms) before they hit the muffler?

Dodge has made it difficult to put a dual exhaust system on this truck!

Having looked at other threads, I see now what the 2 filters are before the muffler.

 

Diesel particulate filter and a catalytic converter.
