No question there. The deletes certainly pay for themself in fuel savings, but also longevity, power, and the general benefit of one's investment. No matter what one's actual specific numbers are, there is a quantitative and valid MPG improvement to be had as many have stated and have proof of this fact.

if you recall mega in the h&s post we had talked. I posted exact numbers driven vs. the amount of fuel I used. If I recall I averaged 18mpg hand calc`d and confirmed towing heavy. So my numbers can speak for themselves after all it`s my wallet that I would be lying to anyways. hehe

I made an almost empty run last weekend. No trailer this time, bt there was plenty of junk in the bed. I kept her to 58-60 the whole time thinking I could get into the 20's. NOPE!!! 17.7

You can question what my true numbers are all you want. It has no bearing on what I say. I deal with it all the time in the non-virtual world. I tell people all the time that I get 20+ mpg and I am told "bullpucky" all the time. You can also say it sounds fishy or be in denial if you would like. The end game is whether it pays off in 13k miles or 26k miles It still gains enough savings to pay for itself(for me in less than a year) so whether you believe me on my numbers or not, my point is completely valid.
My fuel sipping anorexic '90 has an all time best of 23.

I get about 16 ave usually with the daily commute. That is 70% hwy.
If I drvie 70 or less, and no wind I will get about 18-19. If there is wind it goes up or down according to which direction.
I baby it pretty good so I have a hard time believing people get a lot more out of these trucks. Mine is a 2010, 4X4 auto.
I have hd a number of these trucks and never had one yet that would get over 20 consistantly.

Are the numbers hand calculated or the computer?
I ask because I have the same truck and get no where near that, but the computer says I am. 15 is pretty much tops.

No mods at all. I am also going by the computer above. Might have to do a more calculated assessment.

Hand calculated, empty, 17-19 if a stay under 70mph. Towing/hauling 11k I get 9+-11+ depending on the speed and slope. 2007.5, HD, quad cap, 6.7, 6sp auto, 3.73 diff, only cold air dry intake.

I'm running around 16 straight city, and 20 on the highway. I did a trip through the mountains of east Tennessee and back with 3 adults, one baby and a bed full of bikes and camping gear and I hand calculated my next fuel up at 19.6 MPG. Last winter I did a 3000 mile trek across America, the bed loaded with ~500 lbs of junk and running winter blend through all of the blizzards Nebraska and New Mexico, and I still averaged mid 19's. With summer diesel I average better day to day than winter, but so does everyone else.

OK, It's time I jumped in. I've stayed out because I don't want to be called a Liar on the numbers.
I'm getting 17.4 (Ave) around town, running Freeway from Portland, OR to Seattle (round trip) I've been averaging 22.3 empty and 12.8/14.0 towing the 5th Wheel. If I know there's water where I'm going I run the 5er empty and hook the water when I get there. These are Hand Calc'd mileages and based on 35,000 miles (15K pulling the 5er).

Yea your computer numers sound about the same as my computer numbers, but if it is like mine they are way off. I have a 30 mile trip one way to work each day all at 60 mph. One tank this summer I decided I was going to see what milage I could squeeze out of it. Always took off using light throttle and let off way early to coast to stop sighns. The computer hit 20 mpg and I really thought I was doing something, ran the entire tank and filled up. Yep I got 15.5 mpg actual So know there is no ***** footin around, I can drive it like I want and get the same 15 mpg.....
