that makes no sense that there are 2 different six speed autos for the cummins powered trucks. I could see one for the gas motor and then one for the heavy duty diesels but whether its a mega cab or Crew cab shouldnt make a difference. Got any links to back that up?

the aisin ac68rc is just for the c/c line the 68rfe is what is going into the DH/D1 line,
the 68rfe is built from the 545rfe platform, it is also very large on the insides but i have not put my hands on one, YET! I have seen slides of the internals. the 68rfe uses six pinion gear train, and 12-14 SINGLE-side clutch discs in the od/ud packs, as for the torque converter design i haven't seen.
i will say the RFE line has a great track record, in the five years building trans for DCJ i have only built a hand full of 45/545RFE's.
more to come as i get the info.
also have a 6.7L on an engine stand, waiting for internal inspection!

I hate to say it, but that's isn't real hard to do. I've said this several times before-the allison that comes in the gm trucks is not the Jesus Of Transmissions. From the sound of it, this trans ought to be a good bit stronger than the allison.

The as68rc is for the cummins. The 68rfe is for the hemi

I read another long post about this on this site. Supposedly the aisin is only for the cab & chassis truck and is desinged for severe use and it has a pto. Also, it is a $2300 option. the 68rfe is a less expensive/less heavy duty model for the pickups. I guess we'll know for sure come january.

the Aisin has a input torque rating of 565ft/lbs (unoffical of 750+ft/lbs), has PTO provisions, which makes it more of an idustrial unit, DM also only has a five year production run contract, so if this trans fails it will be out quick!
the input torque rating for the 68RFE is still undisclosed at this time but it still looks to be a stout trans! this unit is also chrysler built, so if it sucks then we will fix it till it awesome! sarcasim

Looking for Pictures
this thing is relatively small, but weighed in at 350+lbs, trainning centre had the unit torn down, for trainning purposes. this unit was fresh off the assembly line. after seeing the internals i have all the confidence in the world this trans is going to be stronger than the allison! front pump: 15-20lbs, torque converter: 310mm and heavier than the 48re, multiple tcc clutch pack. i have some pictures of the internals that i will upload and post.
