Delete with emissions/visual standards
Has anybody ever done a delete with just the exhaust? Is this even possible? I am thinking of using the OEM DPF pipe for the emissions test then swapping in an OEM that has been gutted. I need to do this if possible due to the visual test in case I get yanked over. Any help would be great.

No expert here, but I would think a tuner is a must and it depends on which one you get.
It's no different from driving a pipe through a cat converter. The only question is if the signals you'll get from the temp/air sensors will interfere with the tuner programming.
You'll have to keep the sensor wiring connected if you want to pass the visual inspection. You can find a way to stealthfully disconnect the wiring while keeping the sensors connected and that should satisfy the visual part.
Don't forget the California style delete on the EGR system. It's the cause of probably 75% of the problems you'll have with the system/engine. I would also add a blanking plate to the system to eliminate any leak by from the egr valve.
We have the same visual inspection stops here in Kalifornia. I'm just going to bite the bullet and pull it all off for 2 years at a time.
