Has anybody heard anything new on performance parts for the 68?

Suncoast has something in the works. No hard numbers as of yet...


Im still patiently tapping my fingers.

I am full prepared to spend 8 to 9 k on a 68 that will hold up what I want to through at it

On cobbs the suncoast 68 M3ga Pac (over 500hp.) is $2,978.

Im waiting to see what Suncoast is going to come out with. They drop a transmission that will handle 700ish horsepower Ill buy one right away.

Thats what Im waiting on too. I think 750 is gonna be their magic number.

Here is my speculation:

New tranny with billet input and output 5500ish

Billet Flex 550ish

Torque converter: 2500ish

Plus your cores.

So, we will be looking at 8500ish for the setup, plus 20 or so quarts of fluid and an install.

Wife has already been notified and consented. Im hoping to have done in March or so of next year.

I wish Dave would come out with a good 68 since Im only 2 hrs from Goerend's shop. Its a ways to the nearest authorized Suncoast dealer.

I agree. I have heard nothing but great things about Goerend. And he has an authorized installer in Lafayette. No cores either if I use his installer.

So far it looks like Suncoast is leading the way on the 68. I just want to get a stout slushbox behind my engine so I can stand on the loud pedal without my fingers crossed.

You and me both!

Loaded up SW7 the other day just to see what it would do. Pretty impressive. No slippage but not sure how long it would hold.

One thing that was scary. On a ~30 sec WOT run, I pegged the 1600 degree EGT gauges. Quick.

Needs more air, bad.

Needs studs to handle the air.

Its never gonna end.

I think the only reason my HG is intact is because of my WG. I drive with SW9 loaded POD at 40 all the time and I dont drive it easy at all. The EGT will get up to oh SH!+ levels quick.

FWIW, ATS has both built 68RFEs and their 5-Star TC available, both with a 5yr/500k mile warranty. They don't give any specific numbers as to how much power they can take, but claim they can be used for competition. The prices seem reasonable. $3000 for trans, $1700 for TC, plus cores.

Its equal to the Suncoast 500hp transmission. I wouldnt mind running an ATS trans since Clint puts out some good Allisons.

Yeah, a lot of guys are running pretty good numbers through the "500 hp" transmissions. But, my paychecks arent fat enough to risk it.
