We still need those audio clips 
I am ready to yank it this coming weekend...
Just want the clips for fun.
I can do a before and after, my intake tract is all stock until this weekend.

It is louder without the silencer ring. The more the Smarty is turned up, the more noticable it is. Still not very loud in my opinion. I am going to build my *****'s whistler intake soon and then it should scream.
On the 7.3s make sure you have the Wicked wheel if you want it loud. I am pretty sure they came on the early 99s. You can buy them for $100 otherwise.

with only 5,000 miles on it, I doubt it's a clogged air filter. I unhooked 2 harnesses from the air intake, but reconnected them once it was back together. I drove it, and seems to lag now a bit. It makes me really nervous...

got_soot was right. My alignment dowel on the turbo housing wasn't lined up. Fixed that, and now it makes plenty of boost!
will I see an increase/decrease in performance from this mod? If I am not making as much, I'll put the silencer ring back in. I already polished it so the air would flow better. Let me know your guys experience with this mod. I saw on some other posts that you could lose 10hp, but I would like to confirm or discredit that if possible.
