Hey, Got Soot, are you getting a good turbo whistle out of it now? If you are I may give it a try. I did this on my 01 back when I got it in 2000. That was the thing then, everyone was pulling the ring out. I still have it around here somewhere.

I was thinking it had a more functional purpose for anti-surge control. But by the pics of the housing, it doesn't seem to do that.

That being said, most aftermarket turbos don't have these in them. But I stand by the TAGIII I put in my 97 on the S300. The turbo spools quicker and it is quieter as it directs airflow directly into the compressor wheel. I know on the dyno everyone says they didn't hear my turbo spool, oh well..

I don't want my 6.7 to sound like a PSD, so I'm leavin it in and worrying more about the exhaust side.

The turbo is alot louder now, especially when i hit about 20psi, then she really sound's good.

Thanks got soot, Sounds good huh. I may just have to do that. I guess you see or feel no ill efects? Yep I think mine will be getting lost.

CHIMING IN!! Fellas, I am new so please stay interested... I am going to take my 2011 apart tomorrow and perform this modification. If someone will guide me through adding photos, before/after sound bites, and such I will do it. Please let me know. Also, I might even be a little bit better with a drill bit?

Well how loud is it to the old 12v and 24vs.

here is alil bit of my story. i took out the baffle out of the stock air intake and i thought itd be louder, which it barely did. so i went out and bought the aem air intake which i had on my 03 and it made it scream. so i put it on and it STILL barely made a difference. the only time i heard much of a whistle was when i hit about 15-20psi. well i had enough i took out the silencer and bingo it gave me some noise. it doesnt sound as high pitched or as real loud as the 5.9s but it is up there and you can hear her. the real difference in the noise is when you are just rowing through the gears at no boost and low rpms, it has a different noise like a sucking noise instead of a whistle like the 5.9s. hopefully when i get this taped you can hear it good.
