6.7 fuel economy

I currently own me a Edit 07 6.7 mega cab, and this thing loves the diesel. I'm wanting to get better fuel mileage. Would a programmer or chip help that? If so what type of chip would be best? And any other extra things to do to the truck?

The main thing to help economy is to delete the EGR/DPF/NOX and to do this via a programmer like Smarty or the H&S. Plus there are many other nice results like power and longevity that come along with this as well. You will love your Edit even more so.

Which of the programmers would be the best? Not really worried about the price. And about how much more mpg would I get?

A good EFILive tune, along with some exhaust modifications, will net you a decent mileage increase, as well as improved drive ability and performance. The autocal, for instance, can be preloaded with custom tunes for your truck to match your modifications, and application.

my 08 was a good solid 14 MPG truck prior to a mini maxx and delete kit, it is now an 18+ MPG truck empty and just did 15.1 with a 24' gooseneck full of bulls on a 600 mile journey (300 loaded, 300 empty trailer) Love this thing for towing now that its "fixed"

I must say, my truck must be an exception. Empty I get 13-15 city and 17-19 hwy. (hand calc) I keep saying this but I cant wait to get it deleted, I just wish life would stop getting in the way. Priorities I guess but I've been trying to save for 4 years now to do it all at once. I guess I really cant complain except for EPA, and vehicle testing.

I've got an 08 MegaCab, full deletes. On monday I ran, unloaded form Grand Junction, Co, to Amarillo Tx on one tank. That's 580ish miles with the route I run. I would have most likely got another 40 miles or so, but as always I hit the wonderful Tx winds at Dumas and it killed my mpg. Still better than before deleting, but frustrating nonetheless. I ran until the orange light came on, then pushed it till I got nervous. Good thing I stopped when I did, I put 33.6 gallons in a supposed 34 gallon tank!! Soon as I get home I'm doing the tank vent mod so I can squeeze in another 4 to 5 gallons.

CALopez how do you like your EFI Live? I've been looking into it and the h&s here recently to purchase for my 6.7. I'm just not too sure about which to purchase. And your s&b intake, would you suggest that over a k&n? I'm still looking for ways to improve my fuel mileage.

I LOVE it, runs great whether I'm pulling a load, bumming around town, cruising the highways, or WOT. The S&B was suggested to me by many as a cheaper intake than the K&N without sacrificing performance.

Yeah I've been told that the s&b would be a good cheaper intake but I'm just trying to get feedback from different 6.7 drivers about both the intakes. Have you noticed your fuel mileage getting any better or any worse? I'm trying to figure out which programmer would be best, fuel mileage wise. And are you straight piped from the turbo all the way to the back 5'?

Just traded my 02 2500 in for an 08 3500 6.7 auto 2 days ago. Used the computer mileage report and coming to work, 30 km (23 miles), computer said 10.7 L/100km which is 26.4 mpg(imperial) or 22 mpg(U.S.). I don't think it's had any deletes, pretty much stock. Better mileage than my 5.9 2500 if the trip computer is accurate. I know I hand calculated the mileage on my 2500 several times and it always came out to +/- 0.1 mpg compared to the computer so it was pretty accurate. Stock size tires 265-70-17. Pretty happy with that...

I would say that the computer is inaccurate. Does it have larger than stock tires on it?
