5.9 or 6.7

Looking into buying a newer truck have been planning on buying a 5.9 but have also been tossing the idea around of a 6.7. I know what about what it takes to make 600hp out of a 5.9 and that would be my end goal with the truck. With a 5.9 i know i can get some nice smoke with a tuner. Fist mods will be airdog150 5' exhaust, intake, gauges, smarty, trans upgrades. with a larger turbo, injectors, and modded cp3 to follow

What does it take to get a 6.7 to the same?

I'd go with the 5.9 if you can find one, just because you don't have to mess with all the emissions junk.

Agree with that. If you can find a low miles 06 or early 07 with the 5.9, you'll be much happier...

X3 here. Stick with the 5.9. Nothen wrong with the 6.7, but when it comes to maken power, you'll be much happier with the amount of power and the ability to do it with the 5.9. One thing I always wonder is, when the warranty runs out on the 6.7 and you start having EGR/Filter/Emision issues; do you realize how much those parts cost? WOW. Check it out sometime.

if i could do it again i am not sure what i would have gotten i was looking at a new 07.5 6.7 and the price was very close to what i got my 06 for my decision was ultimately based on the emissions stuff ie dpf and egr cause i live in an area that does emissions testing if i lived in a different county i may have gotten the 6.7 it was really powerful smoked the tires through 2nd in an auto, stock E brake, nice i think they have the issues worked out now so think about what you want and what you want to use the truck for if mileage is a concern and you have to keep emmsions equipment get a 5.9
other wise i would get the 6.7 JMO
